LeadAMBROSE SANDERSFemale 18 - 20 Years old
Description
BIPOC, female. 18 years old. An expert at hiding her emotions and shielding the world from what she actually thinks and feels. She is reserved at first but cares deeply about others. She has a number of friends and never lacks company but she’s never been comfortable opening up fully to them and sharing her true self. Growing up with a famous father, she’s used to people manipulating her and using her friendship for their own gain. The only one of her friends she truly trusts to be honest with her is Felicity. Ambrose has a very close bond with her mother and brother and will do whatever it takes to protect them, especially in light of her overly critical and emotionally absent father who only cares about the image their family presents publicly. Her biggest lesson throughout the film is learning how to stand up for herself and to acknowledge her own value, even when others tell her she’s worthless (something modeled to her subconsciously by her father for her entire life).

LeadKYLE MONROEMale 18 - 20 Years old
Description
18-20 years old (to play 16) male. Tall and slim but without the dominating physical presence other men of his size sometimes have. He’s quiet but polite on the surface, and he observes others more than he participates. The death of his close friend Emma (one of his best friends, and the girlfriend of his other best friend Tyler) sent him into an emotional tailspin he’s still trying to recover from. He grew up in a wealthy home with every privilege money can buy … except for loving parents. His father is both emotionally and physically abusive and his mother has never done anything about it, preferring to sacrifice her son to her husband’s violent outbursts in order to protect herself. As a result, he doesn’t have a particularly healthy relationship with the women in his life and tends to view them as obstacles to be manipulated to get his way rather than fully formed people.

LeadFELICITY WILSONFemale 18 - 20 Years old
Description
18 to 20 years old (to play 17), female. Always the afterthought in her own life, Desperate to be loved and someone’s first choice. Her parents are solidly middle-class and she has an inferiority complex about only being able to attend private school because her aunt works there (unlike Lizzy who has a merit-based scholarship). She knows her friendship with Ambrose is the only reason people care about her and deals with it by lashing out at others she considers ‘beneath’ her to feel some semblance of power and control in her own life. She prides herself on always being honest, even when the truth hurts.

SupportingPRINCIPAL THOMPSONFemale 45 - 55 Years old
Description
Late 40s - mid 50s, all ethnicities female. Perpetually stuck between a rock and a hard place, Principal Thompson cares deeply for the well-being of the students at Birchwood while also being extremely limited in terms of concrete actions she can take to support them. She is ultimately beholden to the Powers That Be (i.e. the rich and powerful parents paying for their child’s private school tuition) but does what she can to help all of her students in their time of need, regardless of their parents’ net worths.
