Comments
The producing team is made up of some really exciting Vancouver filmmakers with experience across feature films, television, short films, festivals, and major Canadian talent development programs including VIFF Catalyst, Netflix-BANFF Diversity of Voices, Reelworld, Telefilm Talent to Watch, and Crazy8s.

Collectively, their work has screened at festivals and appeared on platforms including CBC Gem and OUTtv, with experience spanning independent features, series, and award-recognized short films. Several members of the team are also writers, directors, actors, and cinematographers themselves, so this is a very hands-on, filmmaker-driven group.

They care deeply about strong performances, inclusive storytelling, and creating ambitious work that has a real life beyond the shoot.
Storyline
An emerging queer popstar is on the brink of mainstream success, until their lifelong eating disorder leads them to make a dangerous decision that derails their career.

Description
BACKUP DANCERS
Any Gender, 20s–30s, Any Ethnicity
Supporting Roles | 2 Shoot Days
Rehearsals: Up to 2 Days

Milo is a queer pop star preparing to shoot his debut music video, and these are the dancers he has personally chosen to be part of the moment.

The dancers are vibrant, expressive, supportive, and full of personality. More than simply Milo’s backup dancers, they are part of his support system and chosen family, creating an environment where he feels celebrated, confident, and completely himself.

Seeking strong dancers and performers who are comfortable with femme-style movement, expressive choreography, and working within queer spaces.

All ethnicities are encouraged to submit. BIPOC and queer-identified dancers are strongly encouraged to submit.

Dance experience is strongly preferred. Performers should be comfortable learning choreography and bringing their own energy, personality, and individuality to the ensemble.

Description
CHILD MILO
Male, 6–15 to play 10, White/Jewish
Actor Role | 1 Day
Shoot Date: September 26, 2026
Dance Rehearsal: 1 Day

Milo is a confident, cheerful, bigger-bodied/plus-sized child with a natural love of performing and dancing. He is charismatic, expressive, and completely himself.

In a key flashback, Milo performs a solo dance routine in class and is publicly praised for his talent while simultaneously being subjected to hurtful comments about his body. The scene is an important emotional moment that helps establish our hero's journey. Child Milo appears in two flashback scenes.

Seeking a grounded, natural young performer who is comfortable dancing. Previous dance training is an asset, but we are also very open to actors with strong natural movement or dance ability.

This child should match Adam Fox. Photo uploaded of Adam as a child.

CONTENT / PARENT & GUARDIAN NOTE:
This project deals with eating disorders, body image, and bullying related to weight. This role includes fictional comments directed at Milo about his body.

The production team will take particular care when working with the child performer to ensure they understand that any insults or bullying contained in the script are entirely fictional and are not a reflection of the actor or their body.

Creating a positive, supportive, and emotionally safe experience for all performers, particularly the child actors working on this project, is of the utmost importance to the production.
