Comments
The Sandtrap is a character-driven comedy/drama that explores communication, assumption, and the ways our beliefs can shape how we see the people closest to us. We are looking for actors who can bring a natural and grounded quality performance, while allowing the humor and tension between the characters to develop naturally. The film shifts between comedic and more emotionally grounded moments, and we are looking for performances that feel genuine and conversational rather then overly theatrical.

We may be in contact for further auditioning; please keep an eye out for our response.
Storyline
Seb has kept his passion for golf a secret from his environmentally conscious girlfriend, Mia. When Mia discovers him at the golf course while leading a protest against the club, the two are forced to confront a side of Seb that Mia never knew existed. Later that night, their disagreement over golf turns into a larger argument about their beliefs, their assumptions about each other, and whether they can see past their differences.
Roles
Role typeRoleGender & Age range
LeadSebMale 20 - 29 Years old
Description
Seb is a young golfer who has kept his passion for the game hidden from his girlfriend, Mia, assuming that her strong environmental beliefs would make it an issue. He's easygoing and somewhat avoidant, using humor as a deflection while trying to simply enjoy something he loves without getting involved in the politics. He genuinely cares about Mia, but his frustration with their difference in belief eventually brings the conflict to the surface. The role requires a natural, conversational performance that can shift between light comedy, frustration and grounded emotional moments.

LeadMiaFemale 20 - 29 Years old
Description
Mia is a young environmental activist who is passionate and outspoken about the issues she believes in. She's confident in her beliefs and sees the world through a strong moral framework, but is also playful, affectionate, and genuinely cares about Seb. When she discovers Seb plays golf, she struggles to reconcile the person she loves with something she fundamentally disagrees with. The role requires a natural, conversational performance that can shift between confidence, humour, affection, frustration and grounded emotional moments.

SupportingJoshMale 20 - 29 Years old
Description
Josh is one of Seb's close friends and is part of the casual, carefree "bro" dynamic between Seb and Terry. He is casual, straightforward and quick to call Seb out when he realizes he has been hiding golf from Mia, not seeing Seb's situation with Mia as being as complicated as Seb does. He adds to the lighter, conversational side of the film and should feel like a genuine friend rather than a caricature of one. The role requires a natural, relaxed performance with a good sense of comedic timing.

He is laid-back, blunt, and quick to joke, often treating Seb's situation with Mia as far less serious than Seb does. Along with Josh, he acts as a grounded lighthearted counterpoint to Seb's overthinking. The role requires a natural, relaxed performance with strong comedic timing and sense of genuine friendship.
