Storyline
In the remote wilderness outside a tiny village in Alaska, Woody, a depressed 17-year-old boy, accidentally does something grotesquely stupid: in a botched suicide attempt, he shoots The Alaskan Oil Pipeline and becomes a most wanted terrorist, hunted by the seasoned FBI Agent Susan Tarheel. The boy who was fed up with living, is now running for his life. Lost in the wild, without a plan, Woody is not an easy prey. But as Tarheel closes in, she also identifies more with the boy. While Woody escapes across the state and into arctic Canada, he reconnects with the land, its people and the roots of his Inuit mother: he's learning for the first time what it actually means to be alive.

LeadWOODYMale 17 Years old
Description
Please submit actors who are of Inuit or part Inuit descent. Woody is a 17-year-old, Inuit young man living in rural Alaska with his mother. Feeling trapped in a life marked by unresolved pain and isolation, he reaches a breaking point and sets out into the wilderness with his rifle and ATV. A moment of desperation and rebellion spirals into a life-changing event when Woody damages an oil pipeline, triggering a massive spill and forcing him to go on the run.

As a fugitive, Woody embarks on a transformative journey—facing the dangers of the wild and his own internal struggles. Seeking refuge in an Inuit community across the Canadian border, he begins to reconnect with the land, its people, and the roots of his Inuit heritage. His journey is one of growth, survival, and finding hope where it seemed lost.

SupportingANNFemale 48 Years old
Description
Please submit actors of Inuit descent. Ann is Woody’s mother. She has a bright mind and Woody got his wit and sharp tongue from her. She used to be warm and nurturing, but after surviving one of the last residential schools and having been deserted by a bunch of husbands and semi-husbands, she seems to be overwhelmed. She doesn’t have the resources to see herself as someone who can turn her life around. With her blame, self-pity and continuous burning rage she drove her daughter away, then felt betrayed by her leaving. Her son Bobby was a big buffer in the family until he was put in jail. She misses him dearly, but can only express this in blaming him for his stupidity. Woody’s depression is something she cannot help him with at all and this too she has translated into something that is about her rather than him and she’s mad at him for also wanting to leave her by dying. Subconsciously Ann is driving the ones she loves away from her, because she feels they will be better off without her, though she longs to heal herself.

SupportingMANUMale 45 - 60 Years old
Description
Please submit actors who are of Inuit or part Inuit descent. Sure, you can call Manu disorganized. From the chaos in the post office (where unclaimed parcels clutter the shelves, counter, and floor) to his never-finished house that is stuffed with mess and people, he tries to combine several jobs to keep everything afloat but isn’t particularly good at any of them. At his core, he is self-contained. He can be vulnerable without turning himself into your problem. He won’t suck up your energy like a vampire when he’s feeling down. That puts Woody on solid ground whenever he is near Manu, and it’s a good starting point to finally start growing up.
Role typeRoleGender & Age range
Large PrincipalTANARAQFemale 18 - 20 Years old
Description
Please submit actors who are of Inuit or part Inuit descent. Tanaraq is the first certified female hunting guide in her village. No small feat in an environment that is as hostile as the Arctic. With temperatures often dropping as far as minus 50°C, she's able to navigate the tundra with both state-of-the-art GPS gear and by reading the wind patterns of the snow. In a sense she's the absolute opposite of Woody, who grew up completely disconnected from the land and its animals and the ways of his ancestors. She recognizes the gentle and sparkling soul that is hidden below Woody's self-
destructive tendencies, even before he himself has fully discovered it.
Role typeRoleGender & Age range
PrincipalTANARAQ'S GRANDMOTHERFemale 65 - 80 Years old
Description
Please submit actors of Inuit descent. Tanaraq’s grandmother is a no-nonsense woman with a quiet strength that comes from a lifetime in the Arctic. She values honesty and respects tradition, often switching between English and Inuktut when she wants to make a point. Practical and resourceful, she spends her evenings tending to tools, sewing, and preparing country food. Though she speaks softly, her words carry weight, and she has a way of seeing through people without needing to ask questions. Her calm demeanor hides a sharp wit. She doesn’t tolerate lies, especially in her own home.
