Let’s Meet Ava:

Introduction to Ava (daughter and primary care partner), Vivian (mother, person living with dementia) and Brianna (Ava’s daughter), their story and life, and things that are most important to them.

Ava (daughter, 44?years) is supporting her mother, Vivian, (82 years) who lives with dementia and her daughter, Brianna (10 years). Ava is the primary care partner and lives about 30 minutes from her mum who lives in a rural area. Ava lives in the city with her daughter. She has siblings; one sibling, Daniel, lives close by though visits/supports their mum occasionally. The mother lives on her own with some supports such as a walker, lifeline, calling the daughter when needed, neighbourhood watch, prompts, reminders, companion visits once/week, etc. Ava is a single parent and has a family friend, Alison, who she calls for support when needed.



Ava really values family and does her best to share time with her daughter as much as possible even with her busy schedule. They like to play boardgames, read stories and make crafts together. Ava really wants her daughter to experience the grandparent-grandchild relationship as this is something she always wanted though couldn’t experience in her life. Ava and Brianna make it a point to visit Vivian every/every other weekend and she always makes something special (to eat) for them. She also has a gift waiting for Brianna sometimes. One day, Brianna had an idea to make a craft for grandma and give it to her when they visit next.
