Description
East / Southeast Asian strongly preferred

Brainy, guarded older brother caught between gang pressure and university hopes. By day he’s helping his little brother Minh study for a test, by night he’s Jimmy’s reluctant lookout; doing whatever it takes to feed and shelter his little brother Minh after their parents vanished.

Kai’s university dream is hanging by a single scholarship, while gang pressure and guilt over a fatal slip-up threaten to drag him under.

Must be able to layer quiet intellect and wary street instinct; able to pivot from gentle big-brother softness to panic, then to cold resolve when the gun is finally in his own hand.

Description

Kai’s ride or die since middle school and now the Boss’s favoured lieutenant.

He masks an amphetamine habit with a switch between street philosophy and sudden, cutting-edge violence. Jimmy’s back-alley purchase of a hot gun sets off the chain of killings and eventually claims his life in Act 2, it shatters Kai’s last tether to the crew’s humanity and opens the void of power Daryll pounces on.

Must juggle between charismatic calm, pill-spiked mania, and genuine brotherly wamrth towards Kai, all while commanding the crew in heavy GTA dialect.

Description

Kai’s kid brother and the short film’s moral compass. Smart, wide-eyed, and game obsessed, Minh still believes his and Kai’s cramped apartment life is “normal” because Kai keeps the worst truths from Minh. Minh trusts his brother blindly, but years of late-night absences, whispered arguments, and unexpected sleepovers at Ms. Linh’s have chipped away at that innocence.

Guardian on set; limited shoot hours per regulations.
Role typeRoleGender & Age range
SupportingMs. LinhFemale 25 - 50 Years old
Description
Type: East/Southeast Asian

Kai’s closest thing to a parent didn’t start as kindness, it started as a detention. When Kai kept skipping her math class, Ms. Linh pulled him in after school, ready to lay down the law. Instead, she discovered a sharp mind buried under fatigue and stress from the streets.

Ms. Linh keeps the teacher-student formality, but there’s a faint softness under every reprimand. Their history of detentions, and her stepping in for babysitting has threaded a quiet familiarity; respectful distance with a thin, unspoken thread of parental care.

SupportingDaryllMale
Description
Type: East/Southeast Asian, heavy Toronto street accent

Daryll is the Boss’s own younger brother, a family tie that should’ve guaranteed him a place at the top. Instead, he’s forced to watch Jimmy rise to leadership. Unpredictable and erratic, he can flip from easy banter to sudden menace without warning.

Front-line muscle for the crew. Think fast talk, faster fists. They drop packages, stand lookout, and swarm when violence sparks. Rough around the edges, street-smart but not polished.

East/Southeast Asian faces preferred, open to all ethnicities.

Improv skills a plus each runner gets brief lines and reactions.
