The Grand Theatre operates on the traditional lands and territories of the Anishinaabeg, Haudenosaunee, and Lunaapewak. We value the significant historical and contemporary contributions of local and regional First Nations, and all of the Original Peoples of Turtle Island (also known as North America), and acknowledge the traditional lands upon which we live, work and tell stories together.
OUR COMMITTMENT
At the Grand we are committed to creating and practicing a company culture that ensures an accessible, equitable, inclusive, and welcoming space for artists, audiences, donors, board members, and staff. We actively encourage submissions from artists who self-identify as being part of underserved communities. It is our mission to reflect the diversity of our community on and off our stages. If you can imagine yourself in the role, then so can we!
Access and inclusion are important to us. If you have any questions regarding the Grand’s accessibility policies and initiatives, or any requests, we encourage you to reach out to Vanessa Spence, Associate Producer & Company Manager, at vspence@grandtheatre.com.

Storyline
The Play That Goes Wrong is a farcical murder mystery, a play within a play. Cornley Polytechnic Dramatic Society presents Murder At Haversham Manor, and everything that could go wrong, does. We are looking for truthful, funny, physically adept performers who can commit to the style of the play and fully inhabit the characters. It is vital to believe in the characters who are performing the play within the play, as that is where the heartbreaking comedy comes from. With that in mind, we are looking for actors with a keen ability and understanding of comedy but are able to play the truth of the scenes.
Roles
Role type | Role | Gender & Age range |
Lead | Robert | Male 25 - 45 Years old |
Description This production of The Play That Goes Wrong is a remount of the Citadel / TC / MTC version. We are currently replacing one role for the Grand Theatre run.The authors describe the role as: Wants to be Richard Burton, as evidenced by his declamatory style. He is, however, not a parody of a bad actor. He is unaware of others around him. He does not feel badly when things go wrong and never learns from his mistakes. There is a power struggle between Robert and Chris to be president of the Cornley Poly Drama Society (a position that matters a great deal to Robert). Has real vocal power. RP ACCENT. And we would add: Robert is a positive force in the company always determined he can fix any problem - his enthusiasm is infectious. Please note: - The person cast in this role will be the ONLY new cast member joining an existing production - This is a highly physical role including an extensive sword fight sequence |
