Storyline
After Anh writes a memoir in the form of letters to his daughter about his harrowing experiences of the Vietnam War and the Iranian Revolution, the daughter, Da-Lê responds by making a documentary film. Using scripted, documentary, and participatory methods, the story explores how a family can move past divides created by civil war and displacement.
Flashback scenes of the documentary will portray and re-create scenarios from the book and lived experience of Young Anh in Vietnam.
*** Looking for actors who physically resemble Anh (see the picture attached in sides)***

Description Seeking actors/non-actors who can speak fluent vietnamese and comfortable in English Youth Anh is resilient, determined and deeply introspective. He is the Eldest brother and he feels the weight of the responsibility but struggles to balance this duty with his personal aspirations to leave and study abroad. His life is a difficult journey, barely escaping death, seeing his young friends killed and having to leave his family behind not knowing if they will ever reunite, Youth Anh leaves his home country in his relentless pursuit of education. Once in Iran, he will navigate a foreign culture whilst living through the instability of revolution. The Younger Version of Anh will need to convey both the emotional weight of his difficult past and the vulnerability of his youth, showing the internal conflict between survival, love, sacrifice and the desire to protect himself for the scripted sections of the documentary. |
