Ji-Soo attends a Korean funeral in a desolate industrial yard. Disoriented and frightened, he encounters Da-Young: the woman he loves and thought he had said goodbye to forever. Believing he’s been given a second chance, Ji-Soo is desperate to leave with her and undo the separation to reclaim the life they lost. But the world, and the mourners that guard it, won’t let them leave. Ji-Soo’s arc goes from desire turning into acceptance. He begins from fear and optimism to bittersweet realization where he has to make a difficult choice. Ji-Soo’s portrayal should be restrained and physically expressive. The role requires subtle shifts through eyes to convey confusion, disbelief, joy and reluctant surrender. The role of Ji-Soo will be considered for East Asian actors.

Alex 16-19/older teen. An angsty teen, but only as angsty a very religious teenager with a priest father can get. She is straightforward, popular and often enjoys being a ring leader. This comes from the lack of power she experiences within her family dynamic, with pressures that she will never live up to. Currently, at the age of 17, she is learning to rebel slightly, which is also making her more angry, but god and religion is what helps her feel grounded, but we feel this about to change.

Maggie (East Asian, 12-14/early teen) is a tom boy/sporty girl with a fun, tough exterior, fiercely independent and often a lot of energy and impulsion. Grew up in the city, lacks anxiety and deep thoughts/emotions, but still obtains a fair amount of intelligence. She is inherently Queer, she never questions the validity of her Queerness, just lives with such internally. *Mature content includes context of Maggie and Alex accidentally finding the doctor's stash of explicit videos. No cast members will be exposed to any mature content or be asked to witness such. A parent/guardian will be allowed to be present at all times on set.

The loyal hospital receptionist, tired of her job and so close to retirement. Currently stuck working night shifts.

Outgoing, but odd man with no kids or family. Enjoys simple things in life, like fishing and the bar. Tries to get to the end of everyday as quick as possible.

Darius is Cher’s cousin, but among loved ones he goes by the nick-name ‘Sneaky D’. We first see him at the family gathering Cher’s mother Ethel hosts to celebrate her release from prison. Warm, gregarious with a kinda’ Kevin Hart vibe, he is much-loved by the entire family, that is in spite of a checkered past that has not always landed him on the right side of the law. ...When Cynthia realizes she will have to break into Tyson’s home, Cher suggests they get Sneaky D on board to offer some “accelerated cat burglar lessons.” At first glance, Sneaky D comes off more of a jokester than a tech-savvy burglar, but Cher knows him better - she is fully confident in his ability to help Cynthia break into Tyson’s house, crack his safe and depart without detection. Tony is Angela’s athletic, handsome husband and partner in their law firm. He married Angela right after college, so he’s close with Cher as well. Upon her release from prison, Cher stays with Tony and Angela until she can get her own place. In the effort to clear Cher’s name, Tony supports the plan to break into the home of Cynthia’s ex-husband Tyson. BLACK

Like Tony and Angela, Tyson and Cynthia married in their youth. And soon-after they too started a business venture: a sport management agency representing professional athletes. As the success of their business grew, over time Cynthia and Tyson’s marriage began to un-ravel. Soon after Cher was framed and sent to prison for the murder of her ex-husband P.J., Cynthia learnt of Tyson’s various affairs, and that he’d been siphoning money from their business for quite some time. Now he’s lavishly spending that money on himself, and his much-younger fiancé, Jill. ...Tyson’s good-looks, charm and cunning instinct to keep one step ahead of the law have allowed him to get away with various crimes, including murder. Detective Virginia Tibbs is a seasoned, no-nonsense law enforcement official with a quirk - she enjoys associating her name with that of the iconic Sydney Poirier character, ‘Mr. Tibbs.’ ...She was the lead investigator in the brutal murder of Cher’s ex-husband P.J. Winters for which Cher was convicted of second degree murder. Because her team failed to locate the murder weapon, Cher could not be convicted of first-degree murder...Tibbs thought this was a terrible miss-carriage of justice and that Cher should have been put away for a much longer time than six years with good behaviour. When Cher is released from prison, Tibbs is intent to catch her in any parole violation so she can put her back behind bars. ...With help from Sneaky D and Frenchie, and the retrieval of the murder weapon from a safe in Tyson’s home, Cher ultimately proves her innocence. A decent cop and a woman of integrity, Detective Tibbs apologizes to Cher for her animosity. ANY RACE

Frenchie’s intel supports Sneaky D’s plan for Cynthia and Angela to break into Tyson’s home, circumventing a complex security system, and cracking his safe no less! Jill is Tyson Betts’ gorgeous, much younger fiancé - so aka ‘the gold-digger’ in the eyes Tyson’s soon-to-be ex-wife, Cynthia. She has no clue about Tyson’s fraudulent financial activities, let alone the murder of P.J. Winters, his (former) partner in crime. Jill loves the good life and is very keen to marry Tyson as soon as possible, before he gets any ideas about a pre-nup. ...Unwittingly, she allows Sneaky D to distract her - allowing Cynthia and Angela to escape Tyson’s home post-burglary, undetected. Isabel is one of Ethel’s sisters, a much-loved Aunt to Cher and Sneaky D. She’s been a cop for over thirty years, but not yet ready to retire. Isabel is deaf so she communicates with sign-language, and she is acutely capable of reading lips. She is keen to help Cher clear her name, and does not hesitate when Sneaky D recruits her to surveil Tyson’s home. ANY RACE. Ethel is Cher’s devoted mother. Cher being imprisoned for the past six years has been tough on Ethel, but she carried that burden with grace, sincere in the hope that her daughter would be free again soon. We first see Ethel at a family gathering she hosts celebrating Cher’s release from prison. BLACK

As soon as Cher is released from prison, Angela takes her out for a decent meal at a fine establishment popular with an African-American clientele. This waiter is friendly and attentive, discreetly enjoying the colorful conversation at their table. BLACK

Angela, Cynthia and Cher get into some light-hearted shenanigans ... Late one night on a treasure hunt, they pose as park rangers so they can trespass in a closed park. There they encounter Ranger Lopez, a real park ranger on his security rounds - and a very cute park ranger at that...They flirt a little with this handsome stranger before he realizes they are trespassing.
