Bonney
A Mother. She is tough as nails and equal-parts determined and stubborn when it comes to protecting her family. Any ethnicity.
Death
The personification of Death, appearing as a ‘Wild-West’ Outlaw. As benevolent as it is cruel, every move Death makes is strictly calculated. In spite of this, Death is jealous of William and Bonney’s love. Actor will be in a scene with a prop weapon. Any gender and ethnicity – just bring the personality!
Lily
The daughter of William and Bonney. She’s small, youthful and everything to William and Bonney. Any ethnicity.
JO
Female, 30s, any ethnicity. Jo is quiet, and determined, driven by loss and survival. Years after witnessing her brother’s murder she returns to town not as a victim, but with vengeance. Jo does not speak a lot, letting her actions and presence carry her intent. Beneath her calm exterior lies rage. She does not seek justice through the law, but about reclaiming what was taken from her.
STERLING
Male, 50s, any ethnicity. Sterling is an undertaker who has seen too much death. He masks his understanding of the town’s corruption with sarcasm and dark humor. He is aware of Sheriff Walker’s crimes. Sterling represents moral ambiguity; he does not fight evil directly, but quietly profits from it. When Jo arrives, he recognizes the opportunity for truth and retribution to finally surface.
SHERIFF WALKER
Male, 40s, any ethnicity. Sheriff Walker keeps control of the town through fear and manipulation. Walker believes that his authority excuses him from his past crimes. He believes the crimes he has committed were buried away with his victims. Walker acts with arrogance, causing him to underestimate the consequences of his actions.
Neil
Neil is a middle-age man who believes he is still a 17-year-old high school student serving detention in 1990. He is easily impressionable, cocky, immature, and not the sharpest tool in the shed. He is kept company by a sock puppet friend, Mikey, whom Neil voices. Mikey represents the more logical and mature side of Neil, and challenges Neil’s imaginary reality. Actor being cast in the role of Neil will also be voicing Mikey (the sock puppet). There will be a scene where the actor will be shirtless and in swim shorts/boxers.
Cyrus
A 20-something urbanite who relies on talking his way through situations rather than facing them. Over the course of a single winter night, his words repeatedly fail as the consequences of his actions catch up with him in increasingly frustrating ways. Cyrus is selfish and performative, aware of his own shortcomings yet convinced that saying the right thing will be enough. Each opportunity to course correct instead reinforces that his bad luck is largely self-inflicted.
Oats
An old friend of Cyrus, Oats is easygoing to the point of indifference. He moves through life at his own pace and is seemingly unbothered by the mess around him or the expectations he has abandoned. His relaxed, unmotivated demeanour stands in sharp contrast to Cyrus’ anxious urgency, making him both a comfort and an obstacle. Oats is not malicious or confrontational. His passivity and lack of concern are what frustrate Cyrus most.
Lizard
An older man living in a student apartment, the out-of-place Lizard, is a man of very few words. His expressions do most of the talking, but when agitated, he really fires up. Lizard has a strange, unnerving presence. He occupies the space casually, as if he belongs there, despite clearly not fitting in. Seeking an interesting, or otherwise abnormal face. Expressive and emotive facial expressions Southern accent (not necessary) / deeper voice.
Skott
A tired, transactional bookstore owner who immediately sees Cyrus as a sucker and takes full advantage. Skott is blunt, unsentimental, and opportunistic. He treats the interaction as a business deal rather than a favour.
Mario Kart
The vanilla yogurt of people. Mario Kart is genuine and honest. His clean-cut and well-dressed appearance serves as a contrast to the unkempt and rowdy people he’s surrounded by. Clean & comfortable personality.
