DEAN
Represents the new generation of comedians: confident, loud, and unafraid to weaponize humor for status. Dean represents the fresh comedians coming in with new energy: overconfident, loud and a chip on the shoulder. Recently thrust into the comedy scene through a streak of small viral hits, he carries himself with an attitude that hasn’t been humbled by failure just yet. But beneath his bravado lies a fragile ego — one desperate to protect the illusion that he’s naturally gifted. A reflection of Max in his nascent comedy career.
JOSHUA
Once a celebrated comedian, Joshua now carries himself with the quiet authority of someone who expects to be listened to. He views himself as a leader within the group, projecting calm confidence that can be somewhat intimidating.
BETH
An effervescent comedian, full of life, with a spring in her step. In constant pursuit of attention, she has carefully curated a social media image of herself, measuring her worth in views and likes. She keeps an envious eye on peers who achieve viral fame for even the most trivial content.
Kai
A young Chinese lesbian, headstrong, and independent. Loves movies and music as well as her girlfriend, Hayden. Has always tried to be very understanding of her mother’s tough love and traditional parenting style, but as she’s gotten older, they tend to butt heads more and more.
Annie
A single, traditionally Chinese immigrant and the mother of Kai. Struggles to communicate her feelings, often expressing love for her daughter through food. Must speak Cantonese OR Mandarin.
Sherry
A hospitable and hip white mother who, like her husband Todd, is trying her best (maybe too hard) to be “woke,” and is very supportive of her daughter’s sexuality.
Todd
Stereotypical white father, loves dad jokes, works hard to provide for his family, trying his best to be “woke.”
Hayden
Kai’s girlfriend. A bisexual teenage girl who wants nothing but the best for Kai, but struggles to understand her, especially her relationship with her mother, as her family has only ever been supportive.
JEAN
Female, 40-80, black. Stoic and practical, Jean lives deep in the woods, alone. Haunted by the mystery of her daughter Adele’s sudden disappearance forty years ago, her grief bitters her. With no body found, it was determined she was eaten by a bear. Jean never believed it. Now with a child back in her care, she’s forced to reckon with her past trauma. Everyone said she was crazy for thinking her daughter’s spirit still frequented the forest. What if she was right?
LUCAS MILLER
Cold, disciplined, and powerful on the surface, Lucas is a deeply wounded man who never recovered from Violet’s “death.” Raised in wealth and control, he initially lacks empathy for those beneath him until his own actions nearly kill the woman he loves. His journey is one of reckoning: realizing that his silence, pride, and misjudgment caused irreversible harm. Intimacy / Sex: No explicit on-screen sex. Qualified intimacy coordinator present for all intimacy scenes. Fight/stunt: ambush with pipes; physical confrontation implied. Qualified stunt coordinator present for all stunt scenes.
VIOLET JONES
A gentle yet unbreakable mother. Violet is compassionate, self-sacrificing, and emotionally resilient despite extreme hardship. Once warm and hopeful, she becomes hardened by survival after being forced to disappear to save the man she loves. She is blind, chronically ill, and living in poverty, yet fiercely protective of her children. Violet is repeatedly humiliated, wrongly accused, and physically endangered but never loses her moral centre. Intimacy / Sex: No explicit on-screen sex or intimacy scenes indicated in text
OLIVER MILLER (M)
Scripted as 6. Protective, sharp, and deeply loyal to his mother. Oliver is defensive toward adults and reacts strongly to injustice. His arc reflects the trauma of growing up without protection.
SOFIA MILLER (M)
Scripted as 6. Bright, empathetic, and emotionally mature beyond her years. Sofia is her mother’s emotional anchor and moral compass. She believes in goodness even after experiencing cruelty.
EMERY MILLER
Lucas’s powerful mother. Cold, calculating, and classist. She orchestrates Violet’s disappearance by withholding medical care, believing family reputation outweighs human life.
DELILAH HOWARD
Obsessive, entitled, and dangerously jealous. Delilah believes love is ownership. When she learns Violet is alive, her obsession escalates into violence. She is manipulative, emotionally unstable, and capable of extreme cruelty including attempting murder. Stunt: slapping, shoving, kidnapping. Intimacy / Sex: None indicated.
LEVI
Lucas’s assistant. Professional, alert, action-capable assistant. Often the “security logistics” engine in chase/lockdown beats.
ENZO / BENJAMIN
Aggressive corporate enemies / hired muscle energy. Trigger physical action beats (pipes, threats, vehicle sabotage).
Amelie
Amelie is an aspiring photographer who has just fled her hometown on the east coast of Canada to pursue a new life in Vancouver. She’s independent, sharp, and she won’t give up. She’s determined to find her way with a fresh start, but she learns that running away isn’t always the answer.
Gus
Gus is smart, stoic, and reliable. He still lives in a small town in Nova Scotia, and for the most part he’s happy with his simple life there. He’s wise beyond his years, generally level-headed, although the only time his emotions get the best of him is around Amelie.

Convence a Carmen de llevarla a la fiesta de fin de curso y se compromete a ayudar para lograrlo. A pesar de ser la más pequeña del grupo, logra integrarse con naturalidad y sentirse parte de él.
