Mother
A mother who puts the relationship with men over her child. Is working late shifts as a waitress. Will defend her new boyfriend over everything. Manipulative but calculated. Does genuinely love her daughter. Is a bit stern; tired, focused. This role does include one intimate scene (a kiss) and some physical touch (someone holding your waist) and (a hug).
The Man
A jobless man who is also an alcoholic. A deadbeat father, who wants control and power. Wants to be the man of the house. Is trying to regain control over his life, but is unable to. This role does include having to be portrayed with alcohol, being in a drunken state, and yelling. It also incudes one intimate scene (a kiss) and some physical touch (someone holding your waist) and (a hug). Also involves the implication of ending the life of a bird.
The Man's Daughter
The daughter of the man, who just wants a friendship in hard times. Finds that in the other young girl. A bit unaware. Will need to be able to cry for the role.
Mel
Mel has been disconnected from her family for 3 years after coming out to them and getting a very negative reaction from her father Noah sr. She Has reached out after three years to try and patch things up with her parents, but most importantly with her brother Noah jr. Mel is very guarded, and while she is open to extending an olive branch, she does not want to pretend like things are fully back to normal.
Noah jr.
Noah jr. was angry when his sister left. He was able to come to terms with why she had to, but has missed Mel for the three years she has been gone. He hopes to help Mel feel comfortable re-establishing contact.
Noah sr.
Noah sr. was very hostile when Mel first came out to him. Even with accepting Mel’s invitation to come see them, SR still has a hard time breaking that mentality. SR though will try his best to be better for her.
Bridgette
Bridgette is the second wife to Noah sr. She is trying very hard to be supportive of Mel, but is trying a bit too hard. Her heart is in the right place, but she does not help with making the awkwardness of the evening better.
Krissie
Krissie is Mel’s girlfriend and very supportive of her decisions. This does not mean that she is wanting to let her go through them alone.
Jane
Jane, a successful real estate agent who is about to turn sixty, is a perfectionist, passionate, confident, and a control freak. She is a master of cooking. And she loves golfing so much that she maintains her figure well. She feels lost and reveals her vulnerability in the face of the ongoing changes in her career and family. but in the end, she can always look at the silver lining of her life.
Amanda
Amanda is rational, sensitive, and skilled at sensing changes in social atmospheres. She has an open-minded approach to things and, despite her youth, carries a bit of a philosopher's demeanor.
Sarah
Sarah, once Jane's client, later became a friend. She is enthusiastic, loves gossip, outgoing, and curious. She enjoys digging into other people's lives and asking probing questions.
Anna
A criminal by necessity. Her hubris and stubborn nature have landed her and Ruth in their fatal position. She plays into her “tough as nails” persona to hide her more vulnerable feelings. Struggles to admit that she relies on anyone but herself. PERFORMER MUST BE COMFORTABLE WITH SCENE INVOLVING KISSING - WE WILL BE WORKING WITH AN ACCREDITED INTIMACY COORDINATOR.
Bingus
**Must be comfortable smoking prop cigarettes** Clowning background preferred, but not required. Bingus is an exceptional clown with a deep passion for his art. Due to financial hardship he must pivot into the realm of office work, but he finds it much more draining than he originally anticipated.
Rat Man
**Must be comfortable smoking a prop cigarette** The man behind the rat mask hops from job to job, taking what he can get. He needs the cash. This is his most relatable gig, dressed as a rat. The hardships of life are his only reality, never knowing anything better. He's used to it.
Markus
**Though Markus is written as male, we are open to casting any gender** Markus holds a good management position in the office. He makes good money, doesn't deal with a lot of pressure or stress, yet he's tired. He can't remember the last time he felt excited to work and often forgets there's life beyond his desk. He is not a happy man.
Secretary
She's a confident and professional worker at the start of her career. This is her first corporate job, and she's dedicated to growing within the working world. It's her top priority, and she's incredibly driven.

Mr. Dodd
White male. Mr. Dodd is intense and passionate about the arts. Teaching was his backup plan, as his acting career never really worked out. Dodd is caught off guard by Nestor and his TA role. Nestor was one of Dodd's favourite students. He used to see himself through Nestor but is disappointed Nestor chose the educational path instead of focusing on the acting opportunities after he graduated. He finds this out when Nestor joins the class. Mr. Dodd is preparing for retirement and trying to get through his final years as a drama teacher. He has always had a passion for miming, which he does on the side and performs in front of small live audiences. He is someone you don’t want to stare at for too long and is very jumpy and easily agitated. He doesn’t have a sense of style and throws on whatever makes sense to him as an outfit. He is disappointed in his drama classes and lacks passion for the arts, as it is a dying thing in schools.
Nestor
Any race. Nestor is a motivated soon to be teacher excited to work with Mr. Dodd. He is unfortunately hit with the disappointment Mr. Dodd and how much he’s changed since he graduated. He still loves the art of acting, but from the teacher's perspective. He is engaging and has a “born to be teacher” attitude. He looks up to Mr. Dodd, even though he may not agree with some of his teaching Philosophies. He is very much from Generation Z, but has a rawness to him that is very genuine. Even when helping the students, you never really feel his control of the class and is shadowed by Dodd. Nestor wants to find his own voice in education, while still influenced by Dodd’s approach. He is kind hearted and always ready to learn, but self aware and feels the pressure of Dodd and what is expected of him, as well as the opportunities he was once given.
