Roles
Role typeRoleGender & Age range
LeadSARAHFemale 18 - 25 Years old
Description
Sarah wants to be viewed as mature as she prepares to head off to university. To do this, she’s started reading more “mature” books instead of the adventure and romance novels she actually loves. All she really wants is to read those books and talk about them with her friends, but instead she hides them and adopts a slightly “better than you” attitude to seem older. Sarah is independent and capable, used to taking care of herself and her books. When The Beast emerges from a story, it feels at first like she’s stepped into one of the worlds she’s read about — terrifying but exhilarating. That excitement quickly fades when reality sets in and she realizes the creature is real… and it’s hungry.

*Partial nudity (bare chest and arms) will be required for this role.

The Beast once lived in a time when being a Scholar was a rare gift. Reading was not common, and he was chosen not only to learn, but to seek out unknown knowledge and document it for the world. His hubris led him to steal from a witch, who cursed him to forever “hunger for knowledge.” Forced to consume the writings he stole, and every book he encountered after , his body slowly changed, taking on bird-like features and losing much of his humanity. What began as a pursuit of knowledge has become survival. He now eats books for sustenance, the learning that comes with it only a by-product of who he once was. Sophisticated, but bird like, he is always aware of his next meal, and has no interest in sharing.
