Storyline
Logline:
A teenage girl who can sense what others need through a magical “Ping” encounters a classmate her ability can’t help, forcing her to learn the value of listening rather than fixing.
Storyline: PRAIRIE, a teenage girl with an unexplained ability to sense what others need through a sharp auditory “Ping,” moves through her school quietly solving small problems for classmates. Encouraged by her well-meaning but controlling MOTHER to use her gift in service of others, Prairie has come to equate being helpful with being valued. When she notices a cryptic note on the school’s community board, she begins an anonymous exchange with MICAH, a student who has stopped playing guitar; her ability fails to guide them. Forced to act without answers, Prairie learns that helping sometimes means listening rather than fixing.

Roles
| Role type | Role | Gender & Age range |
| Lead | Prairie | Female 18 - 25 Years old |
Description An introspective and observant 16 year old who experiences a sensory “Ping” that tells her what others need. Prairie has grown up being relied upon by everyone around her and has learned to equate usefulness with worth. When her ability fails for the first time, she is forced to confront uncertainty and learn how to listen rather than fix. Much of the performance is internal and nonverbal, relying on restraint, presence, and subtle emotional shifts. We are casting performers of all ethnicities and backgrounds.
| Role type | Role | Gender & Age range |
| Principal | Micah | All 18 - 24 Years old |
Description A guarded teenager with a complicated relationship to control and self-expression. Micah stopped playing guitar after years of being told what to play and how to play, leaving them resistant to authority and uncomfortable with being directed. The role is written to remain open in terms of gender and identity, allowing for a queer interpretation. Over the course of the film, Micah risks creating independently for the first time by letting go of control. We are casting performers of all ethnicities and backgrounds.Actor must be able to play acoustic guitar.
| Role type | Role | Gender & Age range |
| Actor | Mom | Female 35 - 65 Years old |
Description Prairie’s well-meaning but controlling mother. Involved in church and community service, she believes Prairie’s gift should be used to help others. Her desire for structure and certainty leads her to place expectations on Prairie that limit her autonomy, reinforcing the idea that being useful is more important than personal growth. We are casting performers of all ethnicities and backgrounds.
| Role type | Role | Gender & Age range |
| Actor | Janitor | All 25 - 65 Years old |
