                Storyline

The Room Within is a surreal psychological drama exploring the internal experience of drug addiction. The film follows Ben, a man in therapy with Dr. Fane, a figure whose tone shifts unpredictably between warmth and cruelty, and who is gradually revealed as the embodiment of Ben’s addiction. When Ben begins to imagine life without substances, Fane grows increasingly toxic and manipulative, pulling him deeper into a distorted inner world. Drawn further into this hidden room of his subconscious, Ben is forced to confront the painful truth of his dependency. His only way forward is to choose between breaking free and stepping into an uncertain reality, or surrendering once more to Fane’s grip.
        Roles
| Role type | Role | Gender & Age range |
| Lead | Ben | Male 25 - 30 Years old |
| DescriptionBen is a young man wrestling with the weight of grief and addiction. Outwardly quiet and subdued, he carries a brave intensity beneath the surface that can boil over at any moment. He is vulnerable, raw, and self-critical. Someone who wants to heal but doesn’t quite believe he deserves peace. The role requires emotional range, strong physical acting, and the ability to balance stillness with emotional outbursts. Tone: Quiet and broken, yet threaded with a fragile willpower that gradually emerges over the course of the story. Must be comfortable navigating surreal material and extended silences. Strong non-verbal performance is essential. | ||
| Role type | Role | Gender & Age range |
| Lead | Dr. Fane | Male 40 - 55 Years old |
| DescriptionFane is Ben’s “therapist,” but is later revealed to be a manipulative, almost otherworldly presence. What begins as calm professionalism erodes into something darker, crueler, and distorted, a tangible embodiment of Ben’s substance addiction. His voice and energy swing unpredictably: soothing and supportive one moment, booming and accusatory the next. The role demands charisma, menace, and the ability to shift seamlessly between grounded naturalism and surreal, unnerving intensity. Tone: Authoritative and composed on the surface, but with an undercurrent of menace that cracks open into chaotic, nightmarish volatility. Vocal versatility is key. The performance should balance grounded authority with an unsettling unpredictability. | ||
| Role type | Role | Gender & Age range |
| Actor | Clara | Female 25 - 30 Years old |
| DescriptionClara is Ben’s lost love, appearing as a projection of Ben’s subconscious in the mysterious room. She is both warm and haunting, serving as a reminder of what he once had and what he cannot let go of. Her presence carries a fragile tenderness, but also a spectral hollowness, leaving Ben uncertain whether she is a comfort, a memory, or a ghost of his guilt. The role requires emotional depth, with the ability to embody a distant intimacy while also feeling empty, elusive, and uncanny. Tone: Gentle, yet hollow and unsettling. She feels both comforting and unreachable. Subtle, ethereal performance. Should be able to convey layers of meaning through small gestures and quiet strength. | ||
