Storyline
When a breakout author returns to her hometown to sign a film deal, she confronts the estranged friend whose life she mined for her queer memoir - forcing both to reckon with the blurred lines between truth, ownership, and betrayal.
Roles
Role typeRoleGender & Age range
LeadCharlie HaxtonFemale 27 - 40 Years old
Description
A breakout up-and-coming author, Charlie Haxton is on top of the world. She’s a determined, career-driven creative who will do anything to advance her career, even if it means stealing her queer best friend’s private journal to turn a profitable “memoir” for her ambitions. While Charlie’s actions are contemptible, they’re rooted in an understandable ambition and relentless competitiveness to survive in the cutthroat media industry. With her success, Charlie has become used to living in her own bubble of constant validation, and that bubble is about to burst when Ivan returns to her life.

LeadIvan HanesAll 27 - 40 Years old
Description
Reserved, composed, and articulate, Ivan Hanes is a quiet darling of the visual arts scene. Unlike Charlie, Ivan’s career success has been slower and more modest, but more importantly, it’s been on their own terms. After Charlie’s betrayal ten years ago, Ivan had to rethink their “heart-on-his-sleeve” sincerity as a young gay artist. Ivan is cautious of every space they enter and is always concerned with the boundaries of whether or not they belong in the room. With this strong concern with boundaries, Ivan has learned to unapologetically call out injustice where they see it, and that righteous anger is born out of the pain Charlie left them with.
Role typeRoleGender & Age range
SupportingJason DaleyMale 27 - 40 Years old
Description
Jason is Charlie’s meticulous, charismatic publicist and number one fan. He’s deeply enthusiastic about her work and wants the best for her. However, this intense earnestness can manifest as overbearing as he assumes that his public relations plans for her are always the most important thing in her life.
