Storyline

Sometimes, opposites don’t attract – at least not at first! Set in Suburban Illinois, THE MISTLETOE MATCH is a comedic tale about two meddling mothers and their adult children who get roped up in a series of wayward schemes and misunderstandings. Barbara, a retired accountant, decides to join the town’s Christmas Committee, which is headed by none other than Kath – her complete polar opposite. In a misguided attempt to play matchmaker for their respective children, Barbara and Kath must work together to figure out how to clean up the mess they’ve made, while their children, Shane and Lauren, are left to deal with their mothers’ shenanigans.

Roles

LeadLAURENFemale 25 - 35 Years old
Description
To play the role of a 30 year old woman. PLEASE SUBMIT ALL ETHNICITIES. Daughter of Kath. Polished and professional, co-owns an architecture firm with her best friend, Danielle. Lauren is a detail-obsessed workaholic, which often comes at the expense of her personal life. She uses her workaholism as a shield against vulnerability and connection, as she believes that people are inherently untrustworthy – a manifestation of her abandonment trauma, rooted in the fact that her father left when she was little. Lauren is "matched" with Shane on a dating app by Kath, much to her dismay. She reluctantly goes along with the matchmaking idea. Initially a bit shy, but comes out of her shell thanks to Shane.

LeadSHANEMale 25 - 35 Years old
Description
To play the role of a 30 year old man. PLEASE SUBMIT ALL ETHNICITIES. Son of Barbara. Charming, good natured, easy going. An actor who owns his own theater. Shane loves performing, though he’s not so keen on the business side of things: payroll, sales, building maintenance. Emphasis on the latter – he’s especially bad with handy stuff, and it’s the reason why he's contemplating selling the theater. Shane tends to choose the easy path in life and has difficulty committing when things get hard. In a misguided effort to help her son, Barbara matches Shane and Lauren on a dating app, much to Shane’s dismay. However, the more he gets to know Lauren, the more he begins to imagine a future with her.

However, he trusts her to forge her own path, and remains supportive as she finds her footing. Mark loves to sing, and will take any opportunity to do so – caroling, karaoke, you name it.
