Ellen, 40s, a long-in-recovery alcoholic who now manages her anxieties with intense exercise, strict diets, and keeping her life orderly and controlled. Enter Ellen’s 13-year-old daughter Darcie. Like all young teenagers, she’s itching for independence and to distinguish herself as her own person separate from her mother. But when Darcie asks to go to her first house party, Ellen is thrust back into her tumultuous and unguided teenage years. Ellen struggles to stay grounded in the present as memories of past traumas bubble to the surface. Ellen must find a way to keep Darcie safe from repeating her past while not driving her daughter away.
