Description The Child is currently battling a severe, entrenched eating disorder. They are trapped in a cycle of fear, anxiety, and distorted body image. Across the six scenarios he negotiates, deflects, and questions food (portion size, ingredients, plate size, timing) as a way of managing a deeper fear — of weight gain, of losing control, of being judged or rejected. Underneath both is a frightened kid who softens into real vulnerability and small moments of letting the parent in. Each scenario should land in a small act of connection (a bite taken, a hand held, staying in the room).Vocal & Performance Notes: Needs to move credibly between guarded/defensive, cornered anger, and shattered vulnerability. Should sound raw and a little frayed at the edges, not polished or “acted.” The exhaustion of the disorder should be audible, not just stated. Comfortable with quiet, held silences as well as loud angry moments. Casting Sensitivities: This is a minor performing emotionally demanding material about a child's mental health. Eating disorders affect people of every body type — we do not seek a young actor who visibly appears underweight.
