| Lead | Teen Malik | Male 18 - 25 Years old |
Description Malik is a young black teen who is smart, disciplined, and mature for his age. He comes from a hardworking immigrant family and feels intense pressure to succeed because of the sacrifices his mother made to give him a better life. Unlike his best friend Orrin, Malik believes he can leave their hometown and build a future somewhere bigger, university, career, stability, but the idea of moving forward without Orrin fills him with guilt. He is the more cautious and emotionally grounded one in the friendship. Malik often acts like the responsible older brother, constantly trying to keep Orrin out of trouble while also being pulled into his chaos. Even when he’s frustrated, his loyalty to Orrin never disappears.

Unlike Malik, Orrin has already convinced himself that he will never escape his hometown or become anything more than what he grew up around. He masks his fear with jokes, but underneath that energy is someone terrified of being abandoned and left behind by the one person who truly understands him (Malik). Orrin depends heavily on their friendship, even if he would never openly admit it. He is energetic, emotionally reactive, and constantly searching for distraction so he does not have to confront his own hopelessness. Despite his flaws, he is deeply lovable and genuinely cares about Malik.
