Storyline
Checkout follows two professional crime scene cleaners for a criminal organization whose routine is shattered when one of them, Hoover, discovers her estranged little sister is the victim they are tasked with disposing of. Forced to maintain her cover while investigating the scene, Hoover uncovers a blackmail scheme that ultimately led to her sister's death.
Roles
| Role type | Role | Gender & Age range |
| Lead | Hoover | Female 25 - 30 Years old |
Description Controlled, hyper-competent, emotionally suppressed, and haunted by guilt. Hoover has spent years compartmentalizing her emotions in order to survive within a violent criminal world. Intelligent, observant, and fiercely capable, she approaches her work with precision and professionalism, treating even the most horrific situations as routine. The discovery of her younger sister's body completely shatters that control. Beneath Hoover's hardened exterior is unresolved grief, guilt over leaving her sister behind, and the lingering trauma of an abusive childhood she has spent years trying to outrun. Although Hoover initially believes her journey is about finding someone to blame and taking revenge, it ultimately becomes about accepting grief, confronting her past, and allowing herself to feel again. The actor must be capable of carrying the film through subtle internal work before emotional collapse, gradually transitioning from restraint and professionalism to vulnerability, desperation, heartbreak, and finally, acceptance.
| Role type | Role | Gender & Age range |
| Lead | Dyson | Female 25 - 40 Years old |
Description Pragmatic, charismatic, observant, emotionally guarded, unexpectedly compassionate. Dyson survives through humour, routine, and emotional distance. While Hoover suppresses through control, Dyson suppresses through casualness and banter. She is exceptionally good at her job and understands the rules of their world better than Hoover, having spent longer within it.At the beginning of the film, Dyson is often the most dehumanizing person in the room. To her, bodies are evidence, obstacles, and problems to solve. That emotional detachment is what allows her to keep doing the work. However, beneath her professionalism is genuine loyalty and care for Hoover. As the film progresses, Dyson becomes the emotional anchor of the story, ultimately choosing compassion over protocol and humanity over self-preservation. The actor must balance authority, wit, emotional intelligence, and warmth. Strong listening skills are essential, as many of Dyson's most important moments occur through reaction.
| Role type | Role | Gender & Age range |
| Non Speaking | Anna | Female 18 - 25 Years old |
Description Hoover's estranged younger sister, although Anna is deceased for the entirety of the film, she remains its emotional center. Every major decision Hoover makes is driven by her relationship with Anna and the guilt she carries surrounding their shared past. After a troubled childhood, Anna followed a path similar to Hoover's, becoming entangled in a dangerous criminal world while searching for a way out. Intelligent and determined, she risked everything in an attempt to escape, only for that decision to cost her her life. This is a featured non-speaking role with no dialogue. While Anna never speaks and is only seen as a crime-scene victim, her presence drives the entire story. The actor will be prominently featured throughout the film and will work closely with the SPFX makeup team to create realistic crime-scene effects. This role is ideal for an actor interested in gaining on-set experience, working with special effects makeup, and contributing to a character whose emotional impact is felt throughout the entire film.
| Role type | Role | Gender & Age range |
| Non Speaking | Governor Bill Kessler | Male 35 - 65 Years old |
Description A wealthy politician whose public image is built on respectability, influence, and moral authority. Behind closed doors, however, he represents the hypocrisy and corruption of the powerful men who exploited Anna and benefited from the systems that trapped her. Although Bill is deceased, his presence looms over the story. Through evidence discovered at the crime scene, we slowly piece together the role he played in the events leading up to both deaths. This is a featured non-speaking role with no dialogue. Bill appears as one of the film's crime-scene victims and plays an important role in establishing the mystery and stakes of the story. The actor will work with the SPFX makeup team and gain experience on a professional narrative film set.
