Alice, a struggling young photographer drowning in debt and days away from eviction is offered a way out when her seedy landlord leads her to a strange antique store that secretly allows certain individuals to trade cherished memories for enough money to clear their debts. Upon discovering that her debt is cleared overnight, but that she has also lost a core memory of her parents and her emotional connection to it, Alice returns to the antique store to reclaim what was taken, only to be offered an even more devastating choice: recover her memory and resume a life of suffering or be completely financially carefree but lose all capacity for emotional connection. She makes her choice, loses her emotional connection to all things and therefore her drive to pursue any of her own aspirations and is rendered an emotionless puppet enslaved to the antique store that once held the promise of a better life.
