Storyline
This currently Untitled project is a landmark documentary series with dramatic re-enactments bringing history's most formidable, complex, and ruthless figures back to life through real human performance combined with AI-assisted digital double technology. Episode 1 follows William the Conqueror — illegitimate son, Duke of Normandy, and ruthless strategist — from his perilous childhood through the Norman Conquest of 1066 and his crowning as King of England. The story converges on the Battle of Hastings, where Harold Godwinson — the warrior-king who briefly held the English throne — falls alongside his brothers, and the House of Godwinson is destroyed.

All roles are non-speaking. AI completes the final historical look (hair, eye colour, aging, costuming, environment). Cast for facial geometry, presence, and bearing.

Our Approach · Your Protection

How it works. All roles are non-speaking. We're casting for facial geometry, physical presence, and bearing — not lookalikes. Real actors perform on set; AI completes each character's final historical look (hair, eye colour, aging, costuming, environment). Human performance stays the foundation.

Your .DAVE Actor Authorisation file. Every selected performer receives a personalised, encrypted .DAVE file — agreement, proof of work, and protection in one. It strictly limits use of your likeness to this production only: no other productions, no external sharing, no AI training. Every use is logged and traceable back to your direct authorization. Same framework used by major studios for high-end VFX.

Process:
(1) Scan & Authorize
(2) Perform on set
(3) Performance mapped to your digital double
(4) Studio approval

**We encourage performers of all backgrounds to submit.

Non SpeakingWILLIAM THE CONQUERORMale 32 - 45 Years old
Description
TIER 1 / HERO SCAN — $750 FLAT.
The episode's primary scan. Cast at the main age (~39) and aged digitally to span 6–59 across the episode. William is a commanding presence in any room, with absolute certainty in his own vision for how things should be done. Shaped by a lonely and perilous childhood as an illegitimate son, he carries that determination as a chip on his shoulder, channelled into proving his brilliance through the Norman Conquest of England.

Physically imposing with long arms and legs; height ~5'11". Clean-shaven (per the Bayeux Tapestry). Hair and eye colour unknown — AI completes the final historical look. Cast must contrast visually with Harold Godwinson, and read as plausibly partnered with a small-stature Matilda.

Non SpeakingHAROLD GODWINSON Male 42 - 46 Years old
Description
TIER 1 / HERO SCAN — $750 FLAT.
England's last Anglo-Saxon king. Well-mannered and intelligent with a quick wit, Harold can persuade and inspire those around him with ease. Not an overly grandiose figure but brimming with self-confidence and ambition. A fearless leader in battle with the strength of a warrior-king, though sometimes prone to impatience in military strategy.

Moderately tall — depicted in the Bayeux Tapestry as a similar height to William (~5'11"). Strong, athletic build. Blond hair in a bowl-cut style with a moustache. Features influenced by Danish ancestry. Must be visually distinct from William; the moustache, blond hair, and athletic carriage are key differentiators. Cross-reference with Gyrth and Leofwine for Godwinson family resemblance.

Description
TIER 2 / FEATURED SCAN — $500 FLAT.
PETITE FEMALE PERFORMERS STRONGLY PREFERRED. CROSS-REFERENCE WITH WILLIAM AND CECILIA (CHILD) FOR FAMILY CONSISTENCY.

William's queen and a smart, shrewd political operator with a strong will and boundless ambition — a ruler in her own right who runs Normandy on William's behalf during the invasion. A steadfast supporter of his vision, she offers wise counsel and works to secure the backing of the Pope. Described by a chronicler as "one of the most beautiful women that could be seen."

Possibly very small stature — a 1961 analysis of remains suggested as short as ~4'2", though disputed. Hair likely fair or light brown. Significant height differential to William is historically suggestive and visually striking on screen.

Description
TIER 2 / FEATURED SCAN — $500 FLAT.
TALL MALE PREFERRED; MOUSTACHE REQUIRED OR WILLING TO GROW. CROSS-REFERENCE WITH HAROLD AND LEOFWINE — THE THREE GODWINSON BROTHERS MUST READ AS PLAUSIBLY RELATED.

Younger brother of Harold. Tall — depicted in the Bayeux Tapestry as taller than the soldiers around him. Family resemblance to Harold; features influenced by Danish heritage. Has a moustache (per the Bayeux Tapestry).

Loyal to Harold even as their brother Tostig betrays the family — fights Tostig at Stamford Bridge, where Tostig is killed. At Hastings, appeals to Harold to stay off the battlefield, fearing for his brother's life and for the future of England.

Description
TIER 2 / FEATURED SCAN — $500 FLAT.
TALL MALE PREFERRED. SHOULD READ AS VISIBLY YOUNGER THAN GYRTH AND HAROLD. CROSS-REFERENCE WITH HAROLD AND GYRTH.
Youngest of the Godwinson brothers active at Hastings. Tall (similarly depicted as taller than other soldiers in the Bayeux Tapestry). Family resemblance to Harold; Danish heritage features.

A brave warrior, fiercely loyal to Harold. Controlled overlapping lands in Hertfordshire and follows Harold to all corners of the country, fighting valiantly by his side, wielding his trusted axe. Limited physical detail survives in the historical record; presence and physicality are the casting focus.

Non SpeakingGYTHA, COUNTESS OF WESSEX Female 62 - 72 Years old
Description
TIER 2 / FEATURED SCAN — $500 FLAT.
OLDER FEMALE PERFORMER WITH STRONG ON-CAMERA PRESENCE AND STILLNESS. SHOULD READ AS PLAUSIBLY MATERNAL TO HAROLD, GYRTH, AND LEOFWINE.

Mother to Harold, Gyrth, Leofwine, and the betrayer-brother Tostig. A devastated mother at the moment we meet her — having already lived through Tostig turning on his brothers and dying in battle against them, she now loses three more sons in a single day at Hastings. Offers Harold's weight in gold for the return of her son's body for proper burial; William refuses. No physical description survives. Casting focus: gravitas, depth, and the bearing of a noblewoman carrying an immense weight of grief.
Role typeRoleGender & Age range
Non SpeakingCECILIA OF NORMANDYFemale 8 - 12 Years old
Description
TIER 2 / FEATURED SCAN — $500 FLAT.
YOUTH CASTING. SHOULD READ AS PLAUSIBLY THE DAUGHTER OF WILLIAM AND MATILDA.

Daughter of William and Matilda. Extremely well-educated; offered to the Church by her parents at about ten years old as a political move — Matilda's strategy to curry favour with the Pope and lend credibility to William's invasion of England.
As an abbess of noble birth, Cecilia enjoys nicer living conditions than most in the convent. Quiet, composed, intelligent presence; the bearing of a child raised among power.
Role typeRoleGender & Age range
Non SpeakingWILLIAM (CHILD) Male 8 - 12 Years old
Description
TIER 2 / FEATURED SCAN — $500 FLAT, ONE ~2-HOUR SCAN SESSION.
YOUTH CASTING. MUST READ AS PLAUSIBLY THE SAME PERSON AS ADULT WILLIAM.

William as a child — captures the earliest age AI cannot fully replicate from the adult scan. Episode 1 opens with William's perilous childhood as the illegitimate son surviving plots and threats; that experience forges the determination he carries through life.
The role is the foundation for the chip-on-the-shoulder steel that drives the adult William. Hair and eye colour unknown — AI completes per the adult William scan.

Description
TIER 3 / CROWD-EXTRA SCAN — $225 FLAT.
DIVERSE PHYSICAL TYPES ENCOURAGED. NO PRIOR EXPERIENCE REQUIRED BEYOND STRONG ON-CAMERA PRESENCE AND PHYSICAL STILLNESS. APPROX. 5 PERFORMERS.

Norman and Saxon court figures, soldiers, clergy, attendants, and shipwrights for Episode 1's court, invasion preparation, and battlefield sequences. A mix of male and female performers with period-appropriate physicality — a variety of builds, heights, and colouring preferred to authentically populate the 11th-century Norman and Anglo-Saxon worlds. No named characters; scan only — no performance direction required. Norman vs. Saxon visual differentiation desirable across the pool.
