Storyline
On her way to her daughter birthday, Joyce accidentally hits a child with her car and, believing it’s a stranger, is urged by her powerful mayor husband Eric to cover it up to protect his re-election. As witnesses fight to save the injured girl and evidence of the couple’s cruelty spreads, Joyce and Eric manipulate everyone to prioritize their own child.

Description Joyce’s husband. A wealthy tycoon and the mayor of the city who is in the middle of his re-election campaign. He has many powerful connections. When he learns from Joyce that she has hit a child on the street, his first instinct isn’t to get help, but to make sure the child dies and to send one of his assistants to get rid of the body. Eric, like Joyce, believes power and money make the world go round. He loves Candace and his family and is willing to let others die to protect them. But when he finds out that Candace was the victim of Joyce’s reckless driving in the end, he turns viciously on his wife. He knows when to be charming in front of the cameras and when to turn on the threats. | ||

Description Charlie works as a gardener, which is what he was doing when he witnesses Joyce running over Candace. While not wealthy or powerful, he has integrity and cares deeply about others. He refuses to accept money from Eric to let the little girl on the street die. Charlie gives a dangerous amount of blood while at the hospital to save the injured child and nearly dies. He risks his life to save a total stranger and, in the process, meets Dr. Lynn Davies, who he falls in love with. | ||

Description Lynn works as a doctor at St. Joseph’s hospital. She sees Charlie confronting Joyce over hitting a child on the street and gets drawn into the situation. Lynn is an excellent doctor and is able to assess quickly what injuries Candace has and what type of treatment she needs. Lynn is very brave and won’t back down in the face of threats from people in power. She considers Charlie a guardian angel. They share a mutual sensitivity to the suffering of others and disdain for abuse of power. | ||
