Elowen lives on a lonesome farm with her emotionally distant father, Arthur, after the passing of her mother, Sarah. When a scarecrow appears on the field mysteriously, Elowen becomes subtly drawn to it because she senses something familiar, while Arthur becomes more unstable and skeptical. But it turns out that the scarecrow is more than just an apparition. In the end, Elowen flees the house, her father, and the violent cycle after realizing the truth, satisfying her mother’s spirit’s lingering desire for her daughter to escape.
