This project, Gone Viral, explores how cultural expression can be misunderstood, misused, or meaningfully honoured, depending on intention, context, and power. In this context, cultural elements are often removed from their original setting and treated as aesthetic objects rather than meaningful expressions of identity.
Actors are invited to approach the work with humility, honesty, and a sense of play, committing to character work that is informed, nuanced, and grounded.
Our story does not overtly announce its themes, nor does it frame itself as one side versus another; instead, it draws attention to the systems in place.
*PLEASE MAKE NOTE OF ANY N/A DATES OR TIMES DURING THE OUTSIDE SHOOT DATES OF MARCH 6-8.
*One of the Top 6 selections for the 2026 Crazy8s Film Festival! Film will be premiering at the Crazy8s Film Festival Gala on April 11, 2026.
*Trigger warning material: Themes of appropriation, objectification and commodification of black bodies and culture. Blood/Gore.
*Cultural Sensitivity/Mental Health Coordinator will be present when required. Stunt Coordinator will also be present for the role of Jayce.
