Comments
These one-day shoots are called “VOICE” and are professionally produced 5 minute productions designed to showcase the writer’s voice and potential of a feature script in development. These are a carefully crafted moment or scene that connects an audience to what’s at the heart of the writer’s feature. These pieces will be screened at an Industry Showcase event for The Norman Jewison Film Program and will eventually be available online through the CFC’s YouTube channel for further viewing.
BIO
Beatriz Yuste is an actor and writer living in Toronto. After the dream of becoming the Penelope Cruz of Canada was crushed, she settled on, well, just being a regular Spanish-Canadian artist. She's been working as a writer and actor in film, TV and stage for over 25 years. Her most recent acting credits include Ginny & Georgia, Law & Order, Boston Blue and Vladimir. Currently, she is in the Norman Jewison Writers’ Lab at the Canadian Film Centre. Writing is her way of engaging with the world, sometimes as a form of creative expression, other times as a form of protest, but always as an act of liberation. Ultimately, writing is her way of protesting against everything that makes her cringe, not just her personal woes, but politics, inequality and the long-term effects of being on Tinder after 45. It’s also wildly exciting and profound to create something out of nothing.
She's currently in development with 100 Dragons with the feature His Last Wish and has a one-act play, Dirt and Oranges, opening in November as part of the New Ideas Festival at the Alumnae Theatre.
