Storyline
FLUKES follows TOD and DOT, two low-lifes living on the outskirts of the city, in the shadows of an increasingly out of reach modern middle-class lifestyle.

Tod is living out of his car in the forgotten corner of a shopping complex parking lot, working part-time as a human-billboard, handing out flyers for a few bucks a day. Just barely enough to make ends meet.

When Dot is kicked out of her home she finds herself in a similar situation, squatting in the same storage facility, with few prospects for work on the horizon. The two quickly bond over their shared misfortune, and join forces to get by. Tod sees an energetic and street-savvy leader in Dot, while she sees a compliant and impressionable follower in him.

One day, while scavenging for junk to sell online, they come across a strange artifact. Tod wants to sell it at the local pawn shop for a quick buck, but something about The Object calls to Dot. She decides to investigate further, and soon discovers this Object is an ancient artifact with magical powers: bestowing whoever possesses with the ability to manifest their deepest desires into reality.

Dot is quickly consumed by the newfound powers that she believes she holds while Tod, initially skeptical, is gradually convinced and pulled into her wake, growing more and more fearful of what Dot is capable of. Seeing Tod’s fear, Dot begins to pressure and manipulate Tod into doing her bidding. The question becomes, Will Tod be able to resist Dot's persuasion, or will his belief be his demise.

The tension between the two builds to a frenzied high, when it can no longer be contained, culminating in a terrifying, hallucinatory and violent outburst. In the aftermath, we are forced to wrestle with the reality of what happened. How much of it was real? How much imagined? Was Tod a curse, or was the whole thing just a case of collective psychosis?
