The grief swallowed him whole, leaving behind a man who could no longer feel or function emotionally. He became a shadow of himself distant, withdrawn, incapable of expressing the love he still carried. Eventually he got dementia and that only deepened that silence, locking him in a fog of forgotten time. until one day when he met his grand daughter for the first time. Meera
Meera ( south asian ) Language: Hindi (bilingual English lines) A newly postpartum woman balancing exhaustion, emotional detachment, and an old, unhealed wound. Meera has always craved her father’s approval, his pride was her measure of worth, even when it was never voiced. Her strength is quiet, survival-based, shaped by years of emotional neglect. She doesn’t scream, she endures. now, in bringing her child into the world, she’s also confronting the child inside her who never heard “I’m proud of you.” Her journey is not just about motherhood, but about reparenting herself, standing in front of the man who failed her, hoping for a flicker of recognition, of love, of pride.
young Meera
young Meera ( south asian ) Language: Hindi (bilingual English lines) A bright, spirited child full of curiosity and joy. Young Meera lives for her father’s attention, his pride is her greatest reward. She is eager, expressive, and emotionally open. In her small world, a trophy is not just an achievement, it’s a bridge to her father’s affection. But her innocence is interrupted by the sudden loss of her mother, a moment that marks the end of her carefree childhood. It takes her sometime to understand what exactly happened but from that point on, her world becomes quiet, as she learns that love, in her family, is often silent.
Nandini
Nandini( south asian ) Language: Hindi (bilingual English lines) is warmth personified the quiet center that once held the family together. In her younger years, she was playful, patient, and deeply intuitive. Though she appears only briefly, her presence lingers throughout the film in the way Meera nurtures, comforts, and forgives. Nandini represents memory, care, and the kind of love that survives even in absence.
Nurse
The Nurse ( south asian ) Language: Hindi (bilingual English lines) is a steady, grounding presence in the hospital scenes. she moves gently through the chaos, embodying empathy. She’s the silent witness to Meera’s emotional unraveling and Arvind’s fragile state, offering small acts of care that bring a sense of humanity and peace to the space.
Priya
Priya (45), is a mother and the head of her family of two. After the passing of her husband, she became all her daughter had. She never let her see her grief and weakness. In the process though, there was no room left for them to be vulnerable with each other. *Must be South Asian and fluent in Hindi/Urdu.*
Shakti
Shakti (17), is Priya’s daughter. She takes pride in her strength. Having seen the loss of her father early on in life, she takes after her mother’s strength and lack of vulnerability. All her efforts are to make things easier for her mother and live up to her expectations. Behind her hardened exterior is a little girl that never got to be a little girl. *Must be South Asian and fluent in Hindi/Urdu.*
Tim
Tim is a shy, isolated and melancholic 19 year old. He is distant from the people he calls friends and becomes hyper-fixated on the girl he falls in love with (Bella). He wants to know that Bella loves him back, but he also pulls himself away from this answer by his self-doubt and fear. Must be comfortable with prosthetic work.
Aaron
Tim’s best friend. Aaron is loud, rambunctious, and outgoing. The opposite of Tim. He tries to convince Tim to muster up the courage to talk to Bella.
Ronnie
Charismatic, well put together, someone that feels the most comfortable when he’s on a stage with all eyes fixed on him. Is able to snap in and out of his public figure character at any moment.
Jeet
Born in India and moved to North America to make a better life for himself. He finds himself being the victim of a heinous act but is overjoyed when he’s taken care - a tinge of gullibleness in his joy. Must speak punjabi
