SUNILA
Sri Lankan female, 20-30. Sunila is a 25-year-old keyholder at a trendy retail store. Sharp-tongued but soft-hearted, she has a strong sense of liberal values rooted in social justice. A late bloomer, Sunila’s job has slowly become her life, introducing her to a world of attention, confidence, and sexy self-invention that she’s still not sure she can pull off.
REID
White male, slim build, 25-35. Boyfriend to Sunila. A 32-year-old faux-intellectual and performative ally, he occasionally disarms with flashes of sincerity. Reid’s well-meaning, but used to getting what he wants with minimal effort; he’s never really had to question or examine himself. Performer will appear shirtless and in boxer-briefs.
JERRY
Late 20s. South Asian or South Indian (preferably Malayali). Malayalam-speaking actors are strongly preferred for authenticity. Jerry is an international student navigating the harsh realities of immigration in Canada. Once hopeful and determined, he is now emotionally exhausted, financially strained, and as a result, he internalizes his pain rather than expressing it outwardly. He carries the weight of expectations from back home, while struggling with a deep sense of failure.
ARJUN
Late 20s. South Indian or South Asian (Malayali preferred). Malayalam-speaking a plus, but not necessary. Arjun is Jerry’s close friend and housemate who has successfully secured permanent residency. Confident and social, he represents someone who "made it”, but beneath that he understands the system's flaws and the role of luck in his success. Empathetic but practical, he carries a subtle sense of survivor's guilt.
DANIEL
South Asian. Fluent in English. Daniel is a composed and professional immigration lawyer. He operates within the system and understands its limitations, but remains emotionally detached from clients' struggles. To him, it’s business efficient, structured, and transactional. Polished and professional.
Noah
White. Early 20s. Noah is a Canadian-born individual who has never experienced immigration struggles. Curious and naiive, he often asks questions that highlight his lack of exposure to the system.
Elissa
Black. Any gender. 20s. Elissa is lively, outgoing, and the social glue of the group. Carefree, and slightly oblivious to emotional undercurrents.
MUMTA
South Asian. 20s. English speaking. Mumta is grounded and realistic. She has seen the struggles of immigration closely and speaks with quiet authority. Honest, composed and emotionally aware.
JERRY'S MOM
VOICE OVER. South Asian (Malayali). Must speak Malayalam A caring and emotionally strong mother calling her son from back home. She provides comfort, perspective, and emotional grounding for Jerry during his lowest moment.
CLARA
Female (35-45), latina, is a stay-at-home mom who lives and breathes for her family. In her mind, her value is a reflection of her family’s success. If they are happy, fed, and thriving, she feels complete. Because of this, she negates herself from having personal desires, as it makes her feel like she is betraying her role. She got married at 18, never dated anyone besides her husband (living a pretty bland, vanilla sex life), and spent her whole life taking care of her family. She has 2 kids, Charlie (14) and Luna (9). In the series, she will find herself working at a sex shop after her husband leaves her and doesn’t provide any support. She will eventually rent her basement to Sage. This new chapter in her life will force her to explore her desires, wants and needs for the first time. She is uptight but open to trying new things. Every time she steps out of her comfort zone, she policies herself back in for fear of disrupting her family life. Performer must be comfortable with an intimate scene. Intimacy Coordinator will be engaged.
SAGE
Female (25-35), any ethnicity, is a sex shop clerk who treats intimacy like something transactional. She believes that detachment equals safety and if she’s clinical and “over it” she can’t be hurt or rejected. Because of this she has a pretty open and free way to see desire and sexuality, without the pain that intimacy can bring. Sex is a means of pleasure more than connection. She’s always open to new experiences and is not afraid to ask for what she wants, or say what she thinks.
KIMMY
Late 20s-30s, to play female. Vietnamese or East-Asian) ALICE’s frenemy at work. Kimmy is sharp, observant, and a truth-teller. Burnt out from being given lesser accounts to work in their marketing office - Kimmy resents how Alice is handed the best opportunities, and is unaware of her privilege. Kimmy has been tokenized in the office, often only being given great opportunities when it’s for an AAPI associated campaign or project. Kimmy is unafraid to call it like it is, and challenge Alice on her blind spots.
ROSIE
Late 20s-30s, to play female. Chinese. The former Miss China 2018, Rosie has gone on to develop a modelling career, and work with important non-profits. Rosie is level-headed - she’s done a lot of great therapy and knows how to manage her emotions. Rosie has an undeniable, quiet confidence. Her self-work, and healthy self-image has translated into a really great relationships - including a very honest, loving and stable one with ALICE’s ex - JAMIE. She is someone you’d hate to see your ex date after you, only because she’s so genuine and likeable in her seemingly perfect nature.
YOUNG SUNDAY
Quiet, observant, deeply internal. Sunday carries fear without fully understanding it. This role is a voice-over performance for a stop-motion animated character. You will use the completed stop-motion animation to inform your performance. Voice sessions will take no longer than a few hours on one day the week of May 4th 2026.
JESSIE
Warm, chatty, and grounding. Jessie contrasts Young Sunday’s anxiety and feels safe, normal, and human in a world that isn’t. This role is a voice-over performance for a stop-motion animated character. You will use the completed stop-motion animation to inform your performance. Voice sessions will take no longer than a few hours on one day the week of May 4th 2026.
MOM/ WOMAN
A distant, emotionally unavailable parent. Calm on the surface, but disconnected internally. This role is a voice-over performance for a stop-motion animated character. You will use the completed stop-motion animation to inform your performance. Voice sessions will take no longer than a few hours on one day the week of May 4th 2026.
MAN
This is the voice of a father figure who exists mostly through memory, discomfort, and distance. He feels both comforting and intrusive at the same time. Grounded and human on the surface, with something unsettling lingering underneath. This is a voiceover role, but a very prominent one, carrying a significant portion of the film’s dialogue. Voice sessions will take no longer than a few hours on one day the week of May 4th 2026.
MARCO
Hombre mexicano de presencia serena y observadora, con una energía contenida y profunda sensibilidad. Habla náhuatl y pertenece a una familia xochimilca marcada por lo sobrenatural: es hermano de Izel y Citlali, hijo de Ramón. Marco es uno de los seres que regresaron de la muerte, y precisamente por eso sus hermanos lo consideran parte de aquello que debe temerse: los verdaderos demonios. Su presencia debe transmitir humanidad y misterio al mismo tiempo, alguien que parece normal pero carga con una condición inquietante que lo separa del resto.

Joven marcada por una pérdida reciente, con una tristeza contenida que se percibe en su forma de estar. Su vulnerabilidad emocional lo vuelve especialmente sensible a las promesas de consuelo o trascendencia. Debe transmitir fragilidad y silencio más que dramatismo evidente.
