A child during the war of Okinawa and a teen and young adult during American occupation Oba fought, hid and stole to survive and if that wasn’t hard enough, immigrated to Canada with her husband and built out an entire life and strawberry farm here. One she thought her children and children’s children would love and take over for her. But her daughter’s and granddaughters’ lack of interest in the farm has convinced her she must keep it alive, despite ongoing wildfires.
HOTARU
Looking For Speakers of Okinawan or Japanese descent. Hotaru or "Mr.H" as he is affectionely known, is an Okinawan-Canadian farmer, He laughs louder and harder than most and with his wife back in Okinawan and his kids living in Mainland Japan, Obaachan is Mr. H's closest friend.

MELANIE
Melanie, a Realtor, possesses a polished and sophisticated appearance, with well-manicured features and fashionable attire that exude an air of elitism. She carries herself with a sense of authority and superiority, often using dismissive gestures to convey her disdain towards individuals she deems unworthy. Melanie's core desire is to maintain her sense of power and control, often by exerting her authority over others. She is cunning in her ways of undermining those she deems beneath her. The climax occurs when she is forced to confront the consequences of her racism and ultimately faces defeat in her attempts to block Robyn from purchasing the house.
ROBYN
LEAD – ROBYN – 40s: Robyn is a striking African American woman with an elegant presence. She carries herself with grace and confidence. She has a calm demeanor and rarely engages in confrontations. However, she struggles with the impact of racism on her self-worth and sense of belonging. She faces overt discrimination from individuals like Melanie but finds strength to combat it. The climax occurs when she is forced to stand up against Melanie's racism, asserting her right to view the house and be treated fairly.
DIANE
Diane exudes an air of sophistication with her perfectly styled silver hair and designer suits that exude luxury. She carries herself with poise and confidence, always maintaining a calm and composed demeanor even in challenging situations. Diane's voice is smooth and authoritative, commanding attention with its elegance and gentle yet firm tone. A fun, free spirit with the kind of personality and essence that everyone is instantly attracted to. Her confidence can be somewhat overwhelming, but it’s never arrogant or ego-driven. She is who she is and doesn’t apologize for it, unless, of course, she mindlessly overstepped or offended – in which case she’d work fast to make things good. She’s a champion of love and a true romantic.
ALISON
An elegant woman, Alison is blissfully happy with her life and content in relationship with her much younger boyfriend Charlie. Although their deep bond has always trumped the differences that come with their ages, Alison begins to feel insecure about it when Charlie introduces her to a younger woman as his friend, instead of his partner. This leads to an emotional spiral of self reflection that sees her questioning the strength and longevity of their future.
CHARLIE
He’s not clueless but he lacks maturity when it comes to his relationships with Alison versus Kimmy. His actions aren’t ill-intentioned; we can only assume that he fibs to Alison about going to meet up with Kimmy because he doesn’t want to hurt her feelings– and to get some proposal advice on the downlow- but he knows better than to lie, and soon realizes that he should have handled the situation with honesty.

Ethnicity: Asian Age: 40-55 Marie is a bakery owner and a mother. When she immigrated she knew she had a lot on her shoulders and worked tirelessly to provide for her family. She had dreams, but she has even more responsibilities. She's tenacious and fierce but through the time and hardships that she's experienced. Her parenting style is strict and one that embodies tough love, understanding the best thing for her son is to ensure that he's set up for success, in her own way.

Ethnicity: Asian Age 35-50 Anne is a first-gen immigrant and also a mother. While carrying the hope and dreams of her parents and the generation before her, she was the daughter that lived up to her parents' expectations and of course it did come with the cost of bottled feelings. Despite that, Anne is dedicated, empathetic, and ambitious. She swore to be a better mother than her own but it wasn't until she became a mother herself that she came to appreciate and realize the choices that they made.
John
John, a young boy whose mother runs a Chinese Bakery
Sarah
Sarah is Anne's daughter, and calls her mother out for spreading misinformation about her being a soloist at her orchestra. Sarah is outspoken, bubbly, and isn't afraid to speak her mind.
