NIÑO ENTRE 9 Y 11 AÑOS, TEZ MORENA O APIÑONADO. Hijo de Pino y Teresa, tiene una hermana menor María de 7 años. Su mundo empieza y termina en el rancho dónde trabaja y vive su familia, originalmente era una finca cafetalera, estuvo llena de prosperidad pero lamentablemente cayo la roya y esto trajo crisis a su habitantes. Tiene poco, pero es feliz, sobre todo porque tiene una familia unida y dos padres que se quieren y respetan y que le han inculcado valores que muchos de sus amigos no tienen. Miguel está de vacaciones y sus días se resumen a salir de casa desde temprano, cargar con su hermana, jugar fútbol, (es realmente fan de Maradona) e inventarse alguna aventura con la palomilla de niños del rancho. Es un niño sumamente noble y curioso. Ama estar afuera, en el campo, aún cuando muchos días acaba siendo testigo o víctima de alguno de los retos del Calavera, el niño bully del grupo. Al inicio es un poco temeroso, pero la experiencia de encontrar en un hoyo y en una zona abandonada del rancho a Felipe, (un niño que no pertenece a este lugar) lo transforma en el líder valiente que está destinado a ser. Miguel tiene una lealtad férrea a sus amigos y es capaz de retar a todo el grupo de adultos y arriesgar su propia vida con tal de liberar a Felipe de su encierro. Miguel experimenta una dura pérdida de inocencia, no sólo por haber sido testigo de este horrible secuestro (el de Felipe), sino porque por primera vez ve a sus padres, y especialmente a su madre, bajo una perspectiva más sombría. La creía pura, perfecta, como solo un niño de su edad puede ver a su propia madre, pero cuando descubre que ella también es participe del secuestro, su mundo y su identidad se vienen abajo. Teresa se reivindica y de esta manera Miguel, logra comprender un poco el mundo complejo de los adultos, lo que los lleva a cometer errores, pero también, como en el caso de su madre, lo que los hace buenas personas a pesar de las circunstancias.

Tiene poco, pero es feliz, sobre todo porque tiene una familia unida y dos padres que se quieren y respetan y que le han inculcado valores, tiene una buena relación con su hermano, como todos a veces pelean, pero en realidad reina entre ellos el amor y la complicidad, aunque no lo diga tiene cierta admiración por su hermano. Sus días se resumen a salir de casa desde temprano para jugar con el grupo de niños que queda en el rancho, es un niña sumamente inteligente, noble y curiosa, le gusta estar con sus amigos, aún cuando muchos días acaba siendo testigo o víctima de alguno de los retos del Calavera, el niño bully del grupo. Miguel se ha convertido por accidente en el héroe del grupo al descubrir a Felipe (un niño rubio que no pertenece ahi) amarrado y oculto en un hoyo en la zona más abandonada del rancho. Esto hace que poco a poco el grupo de niños se una a él para ayudar a Felipe, en un inicio les cuesta creerle y piensan que sólo quiere llamar su atención, pero cuando descubren que los adultos, es decir los padres de todos están involucrados en este plan de secuestro, y que aparentemente los padres de María y Miguel encabezan este terrible suceso, organizan un grupo de búsqueda y rescate liderado por Miguel.
