Boone
Boone is a tatted shorter, rounder, rugged man is his 40s. The only thing that Boone loves is the bar that he owns, and he'll do anything to make sure that the establishment stays standing. This includes borrowing money from Vale to pay for renovations. Like moving the bar counter from the left side of the room to the right side (for psychological reasons). When it comes to the bar, Boone's eyes are wide open. Boone started out as a city wide courier when he was younger. And while he wasn't very good at getting people their packages on time, he did have a knack for hooking his clients up with more off-the-book deliveries, no matter how shameful the requests were. Throughout his time as a courier, Boone developed a student, mentor type relationship with one of his preferred customers, an elderly Asian fellow by the name of Mr. Liu. Mr. Liu was Yakuza, and even though he was technically retired, he was ultimately banished to North America for exposing syndicate secrets on a Vice documentary. In any case, Mr. Liu was still heavily invested in criminal activity, and his friendship with Boone only helped Boone rise up the ranks of low-level street crime. Boone was constantly on the move, bar-hopping from one leaky basement to another. Eventually, he became chummy with one of the owners of a particular spot (where the bartenders would seductively dance across the counter at eleven o'clock every night). So Boone began splitting his time between working for Mr. Liu and helping out at the local drinking hole. That's where he met Natalia, one of the bartender dancers working there. With all of his time spent on the seedier side of life, Boone never really stopped to experience an actual endearing relationship with a woman. Natalia changed everything. And for a solid chunk of time, Boone began to lean away from Mr. Liu, focusing more on Natty at the bar. Mr Liu didn't take a liking to Boone's change of focus though, and for the first time in their relationship, Boone was displaying tardiness in his loyalty. So Mr. Liu visits Boone at the bar one night. He sits down at the counter, surprising Boone, but they talk and drink as if nothing's wrong. Boone even introduces Mr. Liu to Natalia as “the best thing that's ever happened to him.” Eventually, eleven o'clock rolls around, Natalia gets up on the bar and starts to strip and strut her body across the counter. When she approaches Mr Liu, he tries to place a bill between her bra, but she denies his gesture, completely humiliating him in the moment, and Boone takes note of Mr Liu's embarrassment. Later that night, after Boone escorts Mr Liu back home, he returns to the bar as it burns to the ground piece-by-piece in front of him. As it turns out, Natalia was trapped inside, her charred body was later discovered amidst the rubble. It didn't take long for Boone to connect the dots though, and after the fire was finally contained, Boone returned to Mr Liu's and beat him to death with a baseball bat while he slept. Boone was able to incinerate the weapon and clear his ties from the actual murder itself, but the police were able to charge him with possession of narcotics. Boone subsequently spent two years in the pen, and while he was inside, all he could think about, was rebuilding that drinking hole. Boone is a bit of a cool schlub. But he dresses messy, typically wearing an oversized T-shirt and a haggard jacket with wrinkled brown pants. Cheesy classy shoes.
Husk
If Husk were an animal, he'd be a Hyena. Husk is a speed addicted, shady looking. skinny Asian man in his late 40s or early 50s. While he works at a fairly standard looking retail shop in Chinatown, in the late hours of the night, Husk sells drugs and bullets outside of the store's neon blue rear entrance. Husk was born and raised in North America; however, his parents were first generation immigrants from Korea. His father was a militantly stern alcoholic who barely spoke a word of English. He would often physically abuse Husk as a child, as well as his mother. Husk can vividly recall one instance in particular where his belligerently drunk dad punched his mother so hard in the face that a couple of her teeth visibly shot out of her mouth like a cannon and hit the floor in front of him. Husk's mother spoke even less English than his dad, and yet despite all of the abuse, she stuck by her husband's side, right until the end of his life when he succumbed to pancreatic cancer. And even though Husk's father was responsible for so much physical and mental torment (in his life), Husk still keeps his dad's ashes in a small case at home. While Husk's mother was still alive, he maintained a very tight relationship with her. But once she died of natural causes, that's when Husk hit the drugs hard, and began to dabble in amphetamine sulphate (speed). Literally, since elementary school, there probably hasn't been any real moment of sobriety in Husk's life thus far. N'ore would he have it any other way. In fact, he gets off on it. Husk is perfectly fine with the way that his life has turned out. Much like his mother, Husk is loyal and complacent with where he falls in the overall pecking order. Husk's clothes reflect his scraggly state of being. Worn-in jacket, a loose torn T-shirt, creased pants. Husk's a mess, bordering on homeless looking but more-so unkempt.
