Can play the role of a character that identifies as male. 20s. RUSSIAN. Performers are ideally authentically Russian. The characters (X 12) sing only in RUSSIAN - song and audio track, or on-set coaching, will be provided. Raucous Soviet soldiers who have been passing around and drinking vodka, and are singing a Russian drinking song with their comrades while travelling by train. However, when faced with an enemy, they are quick to join in the chase! Performers must be willing to cut their hair in a military style and have their face clean shaven for the role, if cast.

ACCENT/ LANGUAGE / SINGING: The character will be required to sing in Russian. Performers do NOT need to be known as singers or good singers; the song does NOT need to be beautifully sung...BUT it would be good if they could carry a melody.

[SHANICE] ACTOR MUST BE 18+. CHARACTER IS A WOMAN, MID 20s to MID 30s, BLACK. Shanice has absolutely zero experience working with a news publication, in fact she’s got zero experience working anywhere. She found the position through a posting Taylor made on Craigslist. Her out-to-lunch behaviour is nothing short of eccentric, but her unconventional ideas and loyalty to the company prove her to be a recurring asset. She truly embodies the audience that the publication caters to and is often the one pitching new stories as a result of her social media addiction. Shanice has no sense of shame and is likely to commit acts most people would find humiliating, disgusting, or appalling.

[ROSALYN] ACTOR MUST BE 18+. CHARACTER IS A WOMAN, EARLY 20s, EAST/SOUTH EAST ASIAN. Rosalyn is in her final year at university and has landed a social media internship at The Buzz Room. The only issue is that she doesn’t run social media, she runs errands. Although fully competent, she’s a definite push-over, allowing her coworkers to treat her like something of a human-punching bag. What the rest of the office doesn’t know is that Rosalyn can be just as manipulative, conniving, and power-struck as the rest of them if given the chance. She learns how to influence her co-workers through the use of blackmail, gaslighting and reverse-psychology.

[ALICIA] ACTOR MUST BE 18+. CHARACTER IS A WOMAN, MID 20s to MID 30s, BLACK. Alicia’s vanity has always led her to believe she’d become a celebrated black writer like Maya Angelou or Shonda Rhymes. She feels she has a good-natured sense for journalism that clashes with the office's unprofessional antics. But the truth is that she’ll cut any corners to see her name in lights. Her pride is challenged by the office, especially by her co-worker Rosalyn, who has no work experience but much better ideas. According to Alicia, she’s the only qualified journalist at The Buzz Room; however, the quality of her work would prove otherwise.

LEAD - Grace: Female 60s. WHITE - A formidable matriarch, Grace exudes wealth, privilege, and an unshakable sense of power within her community. She thrives on maintaining appearances but harbors deep-seated prejudices, particularly against her son's Latina girlfriend, Selena. Her philanthropic endeavors juxtapose her intolerance. A mild heart condition shadows her authority. WARDROBE: High-class evening wear for an at-home dinner event: elegant blouse, longer skirt, jewellery.

LATINA - A paragon of intelligence and compassion, with a pretty face and innocent smile, Selena is a highly respected doctor, facing the monumental moment of meeting her boyfriend's mother for the first time while carrying their child. Her kind-hearted nature is matched by her willingness to take action in the face of emergency. Will Selena's strength and Sean's love be enough to bridge the chasm between them and Grace?
