(52) Anxious, caring, responsible. Carrie is a proud single mother of independent children. However, she struggles with feelings of abandonment and hopes to remain close to her kids. Think: Laurie Metcalf in “Lady Bird”, Tilda Swinton in “The Souvenir”.
ANNIE
LEAD - ANNIE, 30 A once-vibrant woman now engulfed in despair. Annie's demeanor is emotionally detached, marked by a vacant look and a resigned acceptance of her fate. She wears her grief like a second skin after the recent passing of her husband, Eddie. Her actions reflect a deep-seated pain and a sense of being beyond redemption. Despite her outwardly indifferent behavior, Annie is profoundly affected by her loss, revealing a vulnerable side when confronted by Matt. Her ultimate struggle is to reconnect with the will to live for her daughter, Layla.
MATT
LEAD - MATT, 30 Matt is a conflicted thief who grapples with a sense of moral responsibility. Though he participates in the robbery, he is troubled by Annie’s emotional state and the potential impact of their actions on her life. His internal struggle becomes evident as looks further into Annie’s, driven by a sense of guilt and empathy. Matt's own past traumas, including the loss of his parents, contribute to his understanding of grief and his desire to make amends. He ultimately seeks redemption by protecting Annie and her daughter, Layla, from further harm.
SAM
LEAD - SAM, 32 A brazen and opportunistic thief, Sam is driven by greed and a thrill for the chase. He is assertive and dismissive of any emotional complexity, focusing solely on the material gains from his crimes. Sam's lack of empathy is evident in his eagerness to loot Annie’s belongings without a second thought. Although he eventually has a change of heart, he relishes being a crook and shows no concern for Annie’s well-being or the implications of their actions.
