(SUPPORTING) Amy and David have been in the same homeroom for their entire high school experience. Amy is an artist, she values the little things in life that most people pass by without a second thought. She still isn’t sure what she wants to do when she grows up and is going to take a gap year before college to figure herself out and travel. She tried to convince David to go with her, but he was too worried about falling behind in college to commit. Amy and David agreed to try long distance but deep down, Amy knows it’s not going to work out. It really upsets her because she believes that if the situation were slightly different, had they met later on in life, they could be soulmates and lifelong partners. Ultimately though, she respects David’s decision and his drive and ambition are two traits of his that she truly loves. Similar to David, she’s treating this final summer as high school ends as if it’s the last, cherishing every moment of it that she can.

(SUPPORTING) Mia met David at college and it was an instant connection as they were the only two people in their program who wanted to go into the same software development niche. What began as regular late-night study sessions cramming during exam season, slowly became something more. They dated throughout their final year of college and it felt like fate when they were offered jobs at the exact same company back in Toronto, David’s hometown. They moved back to the city together and at this point, it just made sense to move in together. Mia is very focused and determined. She comes from a family that values work ethic, the prestige of a career, and income above most things and those values are definitely also instilled in Mia. She loves David, but since moving in together she isn’t sure if their long-term values necessarily align and that has cast doubt in her mind.

(SUPPORTING) Janelle is an enthusiastic kid who’s just so excited for her first summer at sleepover camp. She’s the kind of kid who is never nervous, she just jumps into new social situations and experiences head first. She loves meeting new people and can’t wait for her first summer away from her parents and her first taste of independence. At school, her best friend Becky met her boyfriend at a sleepover camp and Janelle feels like this is her year to find someone and maybe even hold hands with a boy for the first time.

(SUPPORTING) Sam is the camp counselor tasked with setting up an icebreaker game for all the new campers. She decides that playing Human Knot would be a great way to help the kids get comfortable around each other. Sam has a very observant gaze. She can look around the campers and immediately know who’s going to need that extra push to break through their shyness and make new friends. She loves working at summer camp as it reminds her of some of the best days of her childhood.

SUPPORTING) Janelle’s Mom picks her up from summer camp at the end of the session. She’s got an empowered pose and was the youngest lawyer to make Partner at her firm. When we meet her it’s obvious where Janelle gets her confidence from.

(SUPPORTING) David’s Dad is the “cool dad”. He was a bit of a slacker in his youth and turned out alright so he figures a more lax approach is the way he wants to raise his kids. He’s a firm believer that his children need to live through their childhood as unobstructed as possible in order to become balanced, empathetic adults. David’s Dad values empathy over everything and believes that the world is transforming into a polarized place where people don’t seem to care about each other. That’s not how he wants his son to grow up.

(SUPPORTING) David’s Mom has similar values to his father about how to raise her children, part of what makes them such a great match. She moved around a lot as a kid as her own father kept changing jobs in different parts of the country. As a result, she experienced many different homes and many different friends throughout her childhood. She can tell that David still hasn’t figured himself out yet but she’s not worried knowing this stuff takes time. In fact, she was the one who pushed him to go to sleepover camp in the first place! She tries not to be seen by David, but she keeps a close eye on his progress growing up and just wants him to find his place in the world and find happiness,

(SUPPORTING) All of David’s high school friends know that this is the final summer for a long while. They’re all going to different schools in different cities and likely won’t be able to hang out like this again for at least 4 years, and who knows who they’ll be in their 20s? They all met each other through various moments of high school. Whenever possible they all try to work together on group projects and are basically inseparable. This final summer is bittersweet since it represents goodbye but also taking on the next chapter in each of their lives. All they know for sure is that until August ends, they’ll do anything they can to spend as many days as possible together.

A kind soul who operates a hot dog stand. David and Mia go almost every day and it’s gotten to the point that they know each other by name and make small talk whenever he sees them. (CASTING IS BASED ON DEMO REEL, PLEASE SUBMIT)

(BACKGROUND) A group of first-time sleepover campers. It’s their first day and many of them are shy and filled with nerves about meeting new friends and being away from their parents for two weeks.

LEAD - CALVIN, 30 Diligent and composed, despite being overqualified for his delivery job. He maintains professionalism even in the face of Karla's insults. With a background in another career and a degree, he's caught between duty and dignity, yet his resilience and insight challenge stereotypes, ultimately making him a catalyst for change. HMU & WARDROBE: A little overdressed for delivering groceries. Hip and cool. SCENE 1, DAY 1: More casual than business. Slacks or dark-washed jeans OK. A fitted T-shirt or polo, running shoes. SCENE 4, DAY 2: Similar to above but a little more dressy. Dinner party attire.

LEAD - KARLA, 50s Karla epitomizes elitist snobbery, wielding her privilege with disdain. She's sharp-tongued and judgmental, quick to belittle others based on perceived social status. Her interactions with Calvin reveal her prejudice and narrow-mindedness. Despite her outward confidence, Karla's insecurity and intolerance are evident, ultimately leading to a confrontation with her own biases. HMU & WARDROBE: Casual but slightly elevated. Simple but refined. SCENE 1, DAY 1: Jeans, fitted T shirt, flats or runners. Sweater or cardigan OK. Natural hair and makeup, minimal jewelry. LEAD - PAT, 50s A successful businessman who values personal connections and intimacy in work dealings. He exudes warmth and affability, contrasting sharply with Karla's aloofness. While initially unaware of the tension between Calvin and Karla, he becomes a catalyst for reconciliation, challenging Karla's biases and advocating for understanding and inclusivity. Pat's open-mindedness and willingness to confront prejudice demonstrate his integrity and empathy. HMU & WARDROBE: Business casual but a relaxed look. SCENE 2 & 3, DAY 2: Slacks, short or long-sleeved shirts, casual dress shoes. Work-look but not corporate.

LEAD - SHANNON, 30 Snobby, full of herself and a total bully. Even though she acts like she’s above everyone, she is in fact broke and about to be evicted. She is trying her best to hide her true reality... HMU & WARDROBE: Well put together, business casual but stylish. Her hair is never out of place and her makeup is always on. If possible, please bring a TRAVEL BAG or ROLLER SUITCASE. SCENES 1-2: DAY 1, ONE LOOK Sophisticated and casual outfit but more on the dressier side. She’s come home to make an impression even though everyone else is dressed casually and comfortably. SCENES 3-4: DAY 2, ONE LOOK Similar to above but with a slight variation.

LEAD - BETTY, 65 Shannon’s kind and warm mother. She has been tolerant of Shannon’s bad attitude for too long. She has a great relationship with her other daughter Katie and plans on handing over the family diner to her. HMU & WARDROBE: Simple, comfortable and casual. Little to no makeup, a relaxed hairstyle.

LEAD - KATIE, 25 Shannon's sister who is extremely friendly, gracious and compassionate. She and her husband Jack have been running the family diner for quite some time. They don’t have all the money in the world but they’re happy. HMU & WARDROBE: Comfortable but cute and always a little off trend; she’s a second hand store shopper.
