Ari Flynn
Ari Flynn, 24, is observant, quick-witted, and protective. Ari's a broke groom, desperate for funds to save her own ill horse. She's got trust issues with her fellow humans, especially of the rich and privileged variety, but a talent for bonding with horses. She's straightforward, loyal, and honest, almost to a fault. Just don't get her ire up. Her sass will bite back. Especially if you're messing with her animal bffs--or one of the few individuals she's decided to place her trust in.
Beckett
BECKETT “BECK” CROSS, 27 is intense, accomplished, and secretly self-critical. When his horse, Riot, first acted up, Beck got in his head about it. His rigidity made Riot worse. Beck's keenly aware that others perceive him as arrogant and competitive. It's driven him to further control the narrative. Now, he's losing all patience with Riot and their situation. People think privilege is power, but only if you stay on the team. Which sometimes means replacing one's partner.
Mara Cross
MARA CROSS, early 30s, is a savvy, witty, social media strategist. She loves her brother and devotedly polishes his image to a high shine. But even Mara loses track sometimes of the line between presentation and reality. She gets so caught up in the story she's creating, she doesn't always see the people she loves clearly. She and Beck are long due for a reckoning over her well-intended, if misplaced manipulations, and the fear of imperfection that controls both of them.
Sloane Park
SLOANE PARK, 24, glossy, fiercely competitive, determined to make a spot for herself on the US Equestrian Team. Sloane's never failed, and she's not about to start now. She's going to make it to the Olympics, even if it means resorting to dirty tricks and media manipulations. She's not a bad person, she's just bent on winning. And if winning requires dirty tricks and borderline dangerous actions, well, isn't aggressive, physical play what all champions engage in?
