Storyline
Grandpa’s Chair follows the aging relationship between a Filipino Grandfather and his Granddaughter. Love in this family is expressed through the use of food, specifically a plate of fried rice, fried hotdogs and an egg. When this meal is given to the Granddaughter for the first time she immediately feels the love of her Grandfather through one bite. As years pass, food continues to fuel the connection of family and culture but also unfortunate heartache.

Left to raise his young Granddaughter, Grandpa is a kind, caring, yet stern man who loves her more than life and often makes traditional Filipino dishes at her request. Over the years he watches as his Granddaughter grows up and starts to push him away. This is a tough pill to swallow. He can’t accept the fact that she is no longer the little girl he used to care for. He doesn’t know how to deal with a teenager, but one thing he does know how to do is cook. LEAD | ||

If there is one thing that will cheer her up when she is feeling down, it’s food, something her Grandpa knows all too well.
