We are committed to diverse, inclusive casting for every role. For the RUSSIAN roles, we are ideally seeking RUSSIAN Performers (all ages, all genders). If we are not able to do so fully...we will also be seeking Performers that can play Russian roles, and are capable of performing (with coaching) the Russian language and/or accent.

Following are the scenario options for your submissions / suggestions; the Performer is...

(1) ...ideally of RUSSIAN heritage and speaks RUSSIAN, OR if not...

(2) ...of RUSSIAN heritage and has the facility to quickly learn to speak some Russian (and sound authentic)

(3) ...able to play a Russian from Russia, AND have the facility to quickly learn to speak some Russian (and sound authentic),

(4)...able to play a Russian from Russia AND be able to emulate an authentic Russian ACCENT when speaking English (in some cases).

Storyline

BLACKBIRD is an action / adventure set in 1987; 40 years into The Cold War.

Principal	GORGO	Male 8 - 10 Years old
Description Upgraded to PRINCIPAL for breakdown release (despite being a NON-SPEAKING ROLE). Can play the role of a character that identifies as male. 9. The character is RUSSIAN, but does NOT have any lines of dialogue. SUNKEN EYES. Unsettling deep-set eyes, resulting in a perturbing intense stare. An impoverished young boy in a rural village in the Soviet Union. His parents had to move to Moscow to find work, so Gorgo has been left to stay with his elderly grandparents. Gorgo is nonplussed by strangers and fixes them with his unwitting gaze. The character sports a bowl type haircut...which only adds to the quirkiness of the visuals...and the humor of the encounter! ACCENT: Because this role does not have any spoken lines of dialogue, the Performers submitted for this role can have any accent.

The character speaks only RUSSIAN - audio pronunciation guide tracks will be provided. An elderly woman who lives in a rural village in the Soviet Union with her husband, Yevgeniy, and their grandson, Gorgo. She is deeply kind and generous, happy to share what little she has, even with strangers. ACCENT/ LANGUAGE: The Character will be required to speak in Russian with a rural country Russian accent. We have prepared audio pronunciation guide tracks for the Performer. Please submit Performers that might have facility with learning the Russian language, and accent.
