We are committed to diverse, inclusive casting for every role. For the RUSSIAN roles, we are ideally seeking RUSSIAN Performers (all ages, all genders). If we are not able to do so fully...we will also be seeking Performers that can play Russian roles, and are capable of performing (with coaching) the Russian language and/or accent.

Following are the scenario options for your submissions / suggestions; the Performer is...

(1) ...ideally of RUSSIAN heritage and speaks RUSSIAN, OR if not...

(2) ...of RUSSIAN heritage and has the facility to quickly learn to speak some Russian (and sound authentic)

(3) ...able to play a Russian from Russia, AND have the facility to quickly learn to speak some Russian (and sound authentic),

(4)...able to play a Russian from Russia AND be able to emulate an authentic Russian ACCENT when speaking English (in some cases).

Storyline

BLACKBIRD is an action / adventure set in 1987; 40 years into The Cold War.

Description Can play the role of a character that identifies as male. Mid 30s to mid 40s. ALL ETHNICITIES. Charismatic. Burly. A bouncer working the door of a club in the Gaslamp District of San Diego. He lights up at the sight of his “top guns”, the glamorous navy pilots who he always allows to cut the line at the club. ACCENT: The Character must be able to speak a standard American English with a generic American accent. NB: PLEASE TAKE NOTE THAT THIS ROLE IS BUDGETED AS A MONTREAL LOCAL HIRE. Description Can play the role of a character that identifies as female. 50s. ALL ETHNICITIES. Lucy is Troy’s (RYAN REYNOLDS) father Harold’s home care nurse. She has a tough exterior, made tougher by Harold’s resistance to being cared for. She is disapproving, although not surprised when he goes against her directions. The mother of two children, Nadia often has headaches that last from morning til night, curable only by a fresh bottle of wine.
