Storyline
It’s Daytime. Neil walks through his local park equipped with his trusty, beat-up TLR film camera. He likes to take photos of strangers, covertly hiding his gaze through the waist-level finder of his camera. After getting a few nasty looks, Neil turns his lens to a tall man in a rancid old trench coat. The Man faces away from the camera, but as Neil gets closer and closer he finds that there is something terribly wrong with his newest subject. A pair of frightening bloodshot eyes stare back at him from behind the scalp of the strange Man. Eyes that couldn’t be human.
When he looks up from his viewfinder, Neil finds nothing abnormal about the man, other than his ragged attire. It is only when he peers into his cameras viewfinder that he can see it for what it really is. A demon’s face emerges through the back of the Man’s skull. The same red evil eyes now float about a deaths-head grimace. Just like that Neil finds himself to be the one being observed.

Description Like something out of a Childhood nightmare, the creature in this film is a skeletal figure covered in thin muscle tissue like rags and draped in a dirt-covered trenchcoat. His skin is stretched thin as paper over his skull. Almost like his flesh is shrinkwrapped to his jagged bones. What you do see of his face is covered by loose knots of grey-white hair, like globs of hot glue. His eyes are bloodshot to the point of looking like blown flashbulbs discharging radiation. We only see his eyes when they look through the back of his own skull. This mirrors how Neil uses the spyglass of his camera to avoid detection. They are connected in that way only. We want nothing more than for the Waist-Level Devil to be a sight that would ruin your entire day. If you saw this thing and it’s death’s-head grimace it would send a spike of pure dread down your spine. At night it would terrify you to look at him, but during the day where you should feel the safest is where we find him in the story. Nobody can see him but you and no-one will believe what you saw. The performer playing our demon will really have to engage physically in this role. We need a staggeringly tall (Above 6'2), lanky male who is willing to commit to the physicality of this performance and make it their own. You are the centrepiece of this film so we need someone who is willing to evoke utter terror through body language and presence alone. Must be okay with Makeup and prosthetics on the day of the shoot. |
