Ian Bawa is a filmmaker from Winnipeg, Manitoba. He's best known for his films Offline, The Champ, Imitations, and Tapeworm. His latest film ‘Strong Son’ premiered at the 2020 Toronto International Film Festival, 2020 Vancouver International Film Festival, and the 2021 Aspen Shortsfest. Ian was also selected to be part of the 2021 TIFF Filmmakers Lab, 2021 ReelWorld E20 Lab, Netflix’s Diversity of Voices Initiative and is currently attending the Norman Jewison Canadian Film Center – Director’s Lab. Ian is currently adapting Strong Son into a feature film, set to shoot in 2024.
STORY are 10-14 minute short films from directors and producers within the CFC’s Norman Jewison Film Program. These professionally produced and packaged shorts are submitted to and play on the international festival circuit as a remarkable showcase for all talent involved both on/off the screen. These films have previously garnered critical acclaim and are recognized industry-wide as calling cards for the filmmaker’s next projects.

The Muscled Man’s mother died at a very young age which led to an extremely close, and at times toxic, relationship with his father who instilled in him the ideals of becoming ‘strong’. This is how he’s been able to become ‘the best’ he can be. Despite having family and friends, the Muscled Man is very stoic and internal.
