Dinner with Friends is a micro budget feature ($100,000) with a tone and approach closer to a play than a film. It will be shot in a verité, naturalistic style. Dialogue heavy, with long takes in only a handful of locations, this project will be rehearsal heavy and quick to shoot. We anticipate one week (or 5 days) of rehearsals and two weeks (10 days) of filming. The production is non-union. We aim to foster a strong rapport between cast members and invite each actor to take big swings with how they see each character come to life. As things in our industry grow even more precarious than before, we’re looking to create a truly collaborative environment between all cast and crew as we endeavor to tell this collective ‘coming-of-a-certain-age’ story with a true indie spirit.
Storyline
Dinner with Friends features an ensemble cast of eight thirty-something characters who are trying to keep their friend group intact as they navigate their changing lives in an unpredictable world.
