MESSAGE CONCERNING PERFORMERS OUTSIDE OF QUEBEC (aka NOT QUEBEC STATUS) - Some of the roles in this breakdown will be released in other cities by BUCHAN KNIGHT CASTING; however, please note that Production has to meet requirements to fulfill the Quebec tax credit, as well as having limited resources in terms of bringing performers from outside of Quebec; PRIORITY will be to cast as locally as possible.

Storyline
The Creative Team are seeking the following performance levels and tone:

Description
Can play the role of a character that identifies as a woman. Mid-Late 30s. ANY ETHNICITY. Della brings her husband Hartley to the ER at York Memorial when his hernia conditions worsen. Because Hartley suffers from Tomophobia, the fear of being put under, he has considered himself unable to receive treatment.  However, enough is enough. Della takes matters into her own hands, even pushing legal limits, like secretly slipping him ecstasy, to save him.

PLEASE NOTE: The character kisses their male partner. Please make sure the performer is comfortable with kissing their on-screen partner.


ACCENT: The Character must be able to speak English with a generic American/Canadian accent.

Description
Can play the role of a character that identifies as a man. 50s. ANY ETHNICITY. Dr. Rusty Theibeault arrives at York Memorial hospital in considerable stomach pain but trying to remain stalwart. Because he’s a doctor in his own right, he struggles to agree with the diagnosis he’s given by the staff. Rusty believes it’s a very real physical, and not mental, source of pain. He doesn’t appreciate being given a psych assessment. When he isn't assigned the treatment he wants, Rusty begins to take matters into his own hands… even to extreme ends.

Description
Can play the role of a character that identifies as a man.  Mid-Late 30s. ANY ETHNICITY. Hartley has Tomophobia, the fear of being put under, which means he will either continuously put off receiving treatment or, when it is enforced, lash out and bite his anesthesiologist. His wife Della ends up slipping him ecstasy to try to get him relaxed enough to get to the hospital when his hernia worsens. However, when the drugs start wearing off Hartley goes from carefree and romantic to increasingly more and more agitated.

Description
Can play the role of a character that identifies as a man. 65. ANY ETHNICITY. Gruff and seasoned. Mac Hinkley is the GP of 16-year-old Owen, who suffers from sensory processing disorder. The two have a close relationship, and Mac is on better terms with Owen than even his parents. Mac is fiercely protective of Owen and will do whatever it takes to keep him out of harm's way. Including sometimes not listening to his cries for help. Mac may need to learn to let Owen live his own life, even with the risks associated.

Description
Can play the role of a character that identifies as a woman. 30s. ANY ETHNICITY. Tanya is given the surprise of her lifetime when told she has a tumour on her brain that requires immediate surgery. She must move through shame and regret coming to terms with the fact that she was misdiagnosed for months and that her problematic behaviour, which ultimately ruined her relationship with her husband and child, may have been influenced by the tumour itself.

Description
Can play the role of a character that identifies as a man. 40s. OPEN TO ALL ASIAN BACKGROUNDS. Dr. Andrew Zhang is a surgeon who specializes in heart transplants. He’s at the top of his field. While his bedside demeanour is abrupt and not exactly warm, what he reserves in emotion he makes up for on the table.
