Storyline
Ella, a successful marketing executive and city-slicker all though, is sent to a guest ranch in
Alberta to woo, Preston, a wealthy potential client. A promotion is on the line.
Dressed to impress, Ella fails with her first step. She jams her high heel into the gravel driveway
in front of the ranch and falls into the arms of Reese, the ranch manager. He’s seen--and
thought he loved--her “type” before.
Challenged by Preston to put away her phone and embrace ranch life before making her pitch,
Ella abandons silk for denim, learns to ride, and begins to see a different world around
her—and Reese. They share a starlit wagon ride to town for the Christmas Festival and combine
forces to bake 200 cookies when the cook twists his ankle.
Just as she thinks there’s hope in that relationship, her co-worker, Gerard, arrives having
convinced her boss that she must be failing because she hasn’t replied immediately to every
message he sent.
Ella now believes what, as a loyal employee, she tried to deny before, that it’s better for the
client to design them a custom product, than to only pitch the marketing company’s line. She
does this for Preston. Gerard pitches Preston the standard Plan B.
Reese finally begins to see beyond his preconceptions to what Ella is really like. He likes that she
wants to help local craftspeople start a cooperative and website to sell their products. He
watches her fall in love with riding and the ranch, but still, a part of him is afraid to take a risk,
and he holds back.
Preston praises Ella’s pitch, and they go into town together. Later, when Reese hears Ella say to
the departing Gerard that she will see him soon, Reese assumes that Ella is going back to the
city with Preston’s success to claim her promotion.
The guests and staff gather to decorate the Christmas tree, but slowly leave until Reese and Ella
are alone. Ella. standing on a ladder to place an ornament, reaches too far and falls into Reese’s
arms. He quickly backs away, but she doesn’t.
Ella clues into Reese’s misunderstandings and explains about her new independent career with
her first customers: Preston and the cooperative. She explains about the office in town that
Preston helped her lease. Reese is very happy to have been wrong—about a lot of things—and
they begin their story with a kiss.
