Storyline
Welcome to Colepepper Zoo, a family-run business since 1952. Sadly, you’ve come at a bad time. Because today may just be the zoo’s last day.
...as well as the last day for life as we know it, but we’ll get to that later.
In the meantime, things are difficult for young Gracie, a scrawny gray wolf who doesn’t feel like she belongs in her conspiracy-loving pack. Led by the ancient, fire and brimstone Gramma Abigale, the wolf pack’s paranoid suspicion and loopy survival drills seem more than a little out there. And, like most teenagers, Gracie has her own ideas about the world.
...And boy-oh-boy, are those ideas about to be tested. Because hurtling towards the zoo is a tiny meteor that contains a virus that will wreak some gigantic chaos. When it hits, the alien virus will turn the animals into snaggle-toothed, drooling mutants, intent on one thing only: making more mutants!
In the ensuing madness, Gracie gets separated from her pack and embarks on a quest to get back to them. Along the way she is aided, abetted, and sometimes confounded by a range of allies: Xavier, an unhinged red ruffed lemur who happens to be a cinephile with useful knowledge; Frida, a droll capybara; Ash, a sarcastic but fabulous ostrich; Felix, a not-to-be-trusted proboscis monkey; and finally, Dan, a gruff mountain lion with an agenda of his own.
And it is with Dan that an unlikely friendship grows, as he and Gracie begrudgingly begin to respect one another, and work together in a desperate attempt to save the zoo from a fluffy little bunny that has transformed into a maniacal mutant-king, bent on spreading its reign of slobbering mutant-ness beyond the zoo walls.

Roles
Role type | Role | Gender & Age range |
Voice-Over / Voice-Only | Frida (Capybara) | Female 20 - 40 Years old |
Description Female, 20-40. Latinx. Seeking ONLY performers who have Latin heritage for this role. Frida the capybara is very quick and smart with great comedic timing. She is the voice of reason and grounded but still has a bit of an attitude. Frida has a tendency to be skeptical but has a lot of gumption. What’s a capybara? Kind of like a giant semi-aquatic guinea pig (but don’t let Frida hear you say that). Like Ash, she becomes very interested in the information that Xavier keeps sharing about film structure and what to expect next in terms of horror film cliches. She has a Latin accent and will often throw in Spanish words or expressions.Materials related to this project and its characters are confidential and subject to change, and therefore must not posted or shared beyond the person auditioning. |
