Storyline
In this outrageous yet innocent comedy a-la Superbad and Community, lovable loser Tommy struggles to get anywhere in life. While his friends are well established and successful, he’s trying to make it as an actor. Surrounded by the achievements of others, he has no secure job, few solid relationships, and his best friend and roommate is about to leave the country. For Tommy, who has always relied on others to protect and support him, fending for himself is a huge challenge. By chance, he lands a job as a Party Pirate and, through a series of misadventures, ultimately learns to fight his own battles, discover his self-worth, and revel in what makes him unique.
Roles
Role type | Role | Gender & Age range |
Lead | JASMINE | Female 28 - 34 Years old |
Description BIPOC. A brilliant, confident, and successful young casting director with a black belt in Mixed Martial Arts (and strict self-control). Like Irie, she goes out of her way to support Tommy’s aspirations, but she never lets her hopes get too high, constantly managing expectations as Tommy struggles to catch a break. Ultimately, he appeals to the wild and free part of her (whenever she lets it out), and she really wants things to work if she and Tommy can be adults about it. *MIXED MARTIAL ARTS TRAINING NOT REQUIRED. ACTOR NEEDS TO BE COMFORTABLE IN AND ON WATER FOR BOAT SCENES. | ||
Role type | Role | Gender & Age range |
Lead | IRIE | Male 28 - 34 Years old |
Description BIPOC. Tommy’s best friend and chief enabler; came to Canada as a refugee in the early 90s. He’s a straightlaced, offshore oil mechanical engineer (and lets loose to party with Tommy when appropriate). He wants to see Tommy get a secure job to support himself and believes in tough love. Although sometimes embarrassed by Tommy, Irie always jumps to his best friend’s defense and eventually learns to accept Tommy for all that he is. Can tailor role to actor’s backstory. SOME DRIVING REQUIRED FOR ROLE; ACTOR NEEDS TO BE COMFORTABLE IN AND ON WATER FOR BOAT SCENES. |
