Voice-Over / Voice-Only | Salima | Female 15 - 22 Years old |
Description NON-UNION. 15 - 22 year-old Berber girl. Needs to be young enough to distinguish between Salima and Hanni. Speaks with a North African accent in English, but must also be able to speak at least one Berber dialect. NOT looking for Arabic dialects. North African background preferred.Salima was born to Hanni and Izem in Benghazi in May, 1925. She was a confident, outgoing child with an inquisitive mind, but the back and forth of the occupation has made her wary of both the British and the Germans. She also has a close attachment to her father, Izem, and is a familiar face at the port where he works as a foreman. When Izem leaves Benghazi to fight with the British, Salima is proud of his commitment but fearful of his safety and her wariness of the Germans turns to resentment. Her mother’s apparent involvement in the Benghazi resistance pique’s Salima’s natural curiosity and presents her with an opportunity to emulate her father and disrupt the German’s occupation of the city. *MATERIALS HIGHLY CONFIDENTIAL - DO NOT DISTRIBUTE* Please follow all instructions outlined on this breakdown carefully. Role type | Role | Gender & Age range |
Voice-Over / Voice-Only | Izem | Male 35 - 45 Years old |
Description NON-UNION. 35 - 45 year-old Berber man. Deeper voice. Speaks with a North African accent in English, but must also be able to speak at least one Berber dialect. NOT looking for Arabic dialects. North African background preferred.Script will include some critical tender moments with his daughter, Salima. Salima’s father, Izem, was born in October 1904, and for a long time was the only child in his family. His father instilled a sense of responsibility in him while his mother tempered the seriousness with compassion. He is lean and wiry, with a studious nature and a deep love for the heritage of his country and family. Before the war, and during the British occupation of Benghazi, Izem worked at the docks but he lost that job when the Germans took over the city. Izem’s previous association with the British makes him a target for German retaliation and with antisemitic sentiment growing within the city he makes the decision to help the British push the Germans out of his beloved Libya. *MATERIALS HIGHLY CONFIDENTIAL - DO NOT DISTRIBUTE* Please follow all instructions outlined on this breakdown carefully.
