DGC National together with DGC Ontario have developed training opportunities for our industry to evolve, grow and add to our industries’ skills repertoire. These opportunities include both online training led by industry experts, followed by on-set training where Directors and crew will shoot eight one-minute films on volume using the skills they have learned, and testing what is possible on volume.
At its core, the following skills training opportunities allow industry professionals interested in virtual production the opportunity to learn from experts and have hands-on Experience with this new technology.
DAY LONG INTENSIVE VIRTUAL PRODUCTION WORKSHOP
In May, the partners held a day of virtual masterclasses featuring veteran experts working within the space. With a combination of presentations and panels, participating partners and their members were given the opportunity to take part in this valuable one-of-a-kind opportunity to learn more about virtual production. These sessions were available to members of IATSE, NABET, ACTRA, and the DGC.
HANDS-ON VIRTUAL PRODUCTION WORKSHOP IN TORONTO
Following the online information session, Directors applied for the opportunity to learn from experts and gain direct experience working on the Stage 6 volume in Toronto. Directors were asked to submit a letter of intent, a script written for two environments (Park and Castle), and a Director’s vision deck.
Eight Directors were selected to participate following a competitive process that included the submission process followed by a pitch session with a jury made up of industry professionals.
