We want to cast authentically so please only submit talent that either identify and or are part of the communities we are looking for in the role descriptions. It is important to note that being cast in this proof of concept does not guarantee casting for the series when it goes to production. However, it does mean you will be given strong consideration.

Storyline
Two ambitious competitive bylaw officers, one an immovable force; the other an unstoppable object, threaten to take down the Department of Accessibility. In this half-hour procedural comedy, Adina, a disabled insubordinate, but productive bylaw officer who investigates accessibility violations, clashes with her new partner Nathaniel, an able bodied rule following activist that dreams of a role in government.

Description
Adina James, 29, is a young black identifying woman. This brash disabled woman who thinks rules are a matter of opinion, (hers) is a bylaw officer who investigates accessibility violations. She takes her job as bylaw officer very seriously. Determined to make an impact for her community, Adina’s rebellious spirit enjoys pushing the envelope by any means necessary to shake up the status quo. She tries to use her bylaw job as a platform to get noticed by the Police Department to fulfill a lifelong dream of being on the Vice Squad as a pioneer. When her boss makes her take on a partner for the first time she makes sure they know they’ll do things her way.

Description
Nathaniel Adderly, 33, is black, gay, male, and masculine identifying. He’s career oriented and ultimately wants a role in government. Driven to excellence, but never willing to sacrifice his ultimate goal by going outside the lines, Nathaniel always follows the rules. In spite of his commitment to bureaucracy, Nathaniel is a champion of accessibility and advocate of equality. Convinced working in Government is the only way to make change, his decision to take on the role of a bylaw officer is purely strategic. He gets more than he bargained for when he’s paired with Adina who has more code of conduct violations than the people they investigate.

Description
Marley Shuen, 42, East Asian. Supervisor of the Department of Accessibility. They run the day to day ops while wrangling the difficult quirks of some of their bylaw officers. A tough, but fair, non-binary authority figure that treats the team with respect and tries to hold them accountable. A difficult task with Adina, their best bylaw officer, who goes too far securing accessibility violators. Marley has enough to deal with; a lack of staff, a tight operating budget, and pressure from their Department Head to hit a fines quota of violations.
